I'm not surprised that of all people Ann Powers is less than thrilled with this song. She was one of Kelly's biggest champions during the My December
era, writing several glowing articles about that album and even going so far as to say that people were truly missing out on the beauty of it because
everything was being drowned out by the negative press, unfairly. I respect Ann's opinion and actually don't disagree with it except I don't think
Kelly was forced to sing this song. I think Kelly does what Kelly wants at the time she wants it.
It sounds different than the things she's done in the past, it's more dancey than rock but it's still infectious and will be a hit despite what some will claim as Kelly's reverse of course by label command from darker music to fun, energetic music. I was listening to radio today trying to catch this song and I have to say what I heard from other artists was total shit. I finally had to turn it off cuz I couldn't take it anymore. I'll happily buy this single but I won't subject myself to top 40 radio to hear it in that format. |

Kelly's new single isn't suppose to be the greatest song ever, which it definitely isn't. It's just something to get her back on radio and up
the charts again. I'm pretty sure she has better stuff on her new album but this is a nice change of pace.

Description
Guide Review - Kelly Clarkson - "My Life Would Suck Without You"No Kelly Clarkson fan should fear whether or not she would ever have a true follow up to the #1 smash "Since U Been Gone." Reuniting with the Max Martin and Dr. Luke production team that helmed "Since U Been Gone," Clarkson has unleashed 4 minutes of pop perfection that could easily end up one of the biggest hits of the year. Elbowing her way into the independent female territory of Katy Perry and Pink, Kelly Clarkson adds just enough sugary bubblegum to the mix to leave listeners with a sweet smile on their face. A key element that sets "My Life Would Suck Without You" above the competition is Clarkson's vocals. She once again displays the clear, resonant pipes that took her to the top of the first season of American Idol. After displaying ample versatility in edgier rock and a sojourn into country music, Kelly Clarkson has returned home to the pop foundation of her
work. It is indeed a welcome return, and expect to see her back near the top of the pop singles chart very soon. Bring on the charging synths, drums, and
one of the most clever song titles in recent memory.

It is not one of her best songs, but it is infectious and has been in my head all day.
