Good catch, birdlady. I was looking at the music faculty and saw Carlin, but had no idea whether it was a male or female name. Looks like he's the only
male music teacher there.

Trumpeter Carlin was not in attendence at the Oct 24 and 25 concert by the Susanville Swing Band.

This bodes well, both Patrick and Carlin play wind instruments, so even if it wasn't a full orchestra and just a wind ensemble, he could be the conductor.
But BlueDamsel, did this report confirm he's the regular conductor?

Hunky Matt Mullin is the leader of the Swing Band, but Matt appears to have led the concert in late Oct , 08. His bride Ludmilla performed a solo to
thunderous applause. Ludmilla arrived from Russia in Sept 08 to 'make the relationship permanent'. Matt would have been an eye-pleasing Survivor
contestant , but alas... love and Swing have stolen his heart.

looks like the dude only took 6 years to get his BA degree in an out of town College (B.A. in Music Ed., 1981 to 1987). He might not be the highest I.Q. or
highest achieving person in the tribe this season. But I don't know, he probably worked his way through College.

Even if he wasn't being held yet his life still would have been pretty complicated that week. For most people arranging to be off work and out of the
country without email or phone access for a month and a half would be complicated enough; you're also going to want to spend a lot of time that week with
your family and friends, and when you throw in strange new demands like practicing with a flint and steel, studying edible plants, screening several seasons of
the series and that sort of thing I'm sure it's crazy. I could see clearing your calender for an extra week.

Don't the 'even' Survivors start the last Monday in October and end the first Thursday in December?
S12 - 10/31/2005 through 12/8/2005 S14 - 10/30/2006 through 12/7/2006 S16 - 10/29/2007 through 12/6/2007 S18 - 10/27/2008 through 12/4/2008? |

Carlin Hagen, age 47, lives in Janesville, California. Wife is Sheri, she works for a church as children's ministry director (http://cefchurch.com/?page_id=7). They have two sons, Alan (goes to Fresno Pacific University) and Ethan (goes to the
high school he teaches at.) The guy from that post that said his conductor guy was on the show is friend's with both sons on facebook, so if the guy is
serious then it's definitely this teacher.
My guess is these two are the most recent from Christmastime, although I could be wrong.
This one is from early August-ish.
These last four are from late June-ish. |

If you're right about when each picture is from he gained weight between August and December. Not a ton but enough in the face and the chin I'm pretty
sure I'm not imagining it. If the game wrapped in early December then the Christmastime ones would have been two to four weeks later. Does anyone want to
weigh in on how fast a post-game weight rebound would take to not only cancel out the weight loss but add a few pounds to someone's original weight? Seems
like it would take at least the four weeks, not the two. In other words, even if Carlin made the show I don't share the poster's certainty that he
lasted until the end.
