I use a cup. Not a mooncup, a different brand, but the same thing. There's typically no sloshing but there has been occasional overflow.

To insert you have to fold it. Smoosh it flat and then fold it in half, hold it that way when you put it in, then release it once it's in (if you let go too soon it will hurt like a sonofabitch). It'll open after it's inside and it'll create something of a suction that will hold it up and in place. That's why it doesn't slosh. Removal also involves some folding. Pull it down slightly from the bottom until you can push one of the top edges down and into the cup so it comes out folded.

I got the smaller one because I was 18 when I got it and had no babies then (or since).

Sea sponges seem gross to me. Dead fish in the vag? No thanks. Plus I'd heard stories of them breaking apart and chunks of them getting stuck up there.

I was a member of a women's health community on livejournal and menstrual products was a frequently discussed topic. Cup users are all extremely enthusiastic and love to spread the word of the cup. The only bad things I ever heard were that they were hard to get used to at first and that the stem at the bottom could be pokey (you can trim it shorter or cut it off though). Everything else (eco friendly, cost-effective, practical, no risk of TSS, holds more than a pad or tampon so needs to be changed (emptied) less frequently) was very positive.
