According to one of Probst's blogs they had always intended an F2 for Fans Vs. Favorites. Here are his exact quotes on this issue (which was in the Ep. 13 blog--responding to fans who wrote comments:) "To Dr. Zenith - thanks for the casting ideas, but I have to comment on the assertions that you and especially David Ellen (David, you made the blog!) continue to make: that we manipulate the game so that our favorites can win. Is the medication you're currently taking prescribed or do you buy it on the streets? If we could dictate who would win each season, then the following people never would have won: Tina in Australia, Vecepia in Marquesas, that soft-core porno dude in Thailand, Jenna in the Amazon, Sandra in Pearl Islands, Amber in All-Stars, Earl in Fiji, and Parvati in Fans vs Favorites! All of those just listed people definitely deserved to win because they played the best game, but that doesn't mean they would have been our first choice to win. We would have picked more "colorful" winners. Plain and simple. I'm kind of stumped that people still believe this stuff. ...Once and for all - the final three vs final two debate. It's a matter of choice. Personally I believe that when you have three people in the final you have a better opportunity for a good winner because you cannot simply win the final immunity challenge and then take the least liked person with you to the final vote. For instance, had we planned a final three in Fans vs Favorites, Cirie would have won and everybody would have been happy. But we had a final two planned. So, David Ellen, if we were master manipulators, why not make it a final three and let Cirie win? Enough already. That's just my opinion. For crying out loud, get over it." And now I'm really over and out!

While not the most exciting, definitely the most likable winner in a long time. FTC was a bit dull - and all the questions were predictable - as well as the answers given to them. Wish we had gotten more drama than Corinne being a horrid, vile, waste of oxygen. Still, I really loved this season. Looking forward to Brazil!!!

It's good to hear Probst address this. The final 3 has led to some likeable winners. However, I still think it weakens and waters down the structure of the game. It takes less strategy to get the final 3 than a final 2. I'd prefer a final 2 even it means the best player might get booted into third place. But as he said, it's a matter of choice.

We were talking about the weather in the other forum. Looks like it started off dry and very hot for a couple of weeks, then all of a sudden switched to raining and quite cool. I was wondering how that impacted the tribe(s) and their shelter. Usually we get that argue about shelter/build something inadequate/collapses in rain arc the first episode or so, when the players are all still mostly strangers, and include a few people who probably don't have a chance at the game. Here, if the initial shelter merely provided shade, they were good. Then all of a sudden, merge time-ish, they need real shelter. Was there an initial intention to just wait for the rain to blow over, except it just keeps pouring and pouring? If there is a new site for the merge camp, do folks invest in a very sturdy structure? Does some Bob-like player, useful at the start of the game but on the chopping block now, suddenly become useful again? etc (I wonder how the weather impacted production, too. Apparently the rain is normal wet season weather for the region, but it arrived rather earlier than normal. I bet the original plan involved hoping that shooting was completed before the rain started, but how much of a contingency plan did they have?)
