I've tried my hardest to avoid biases, but that will obviously be easier after reading the first episode. Hopefully the fanfic starting after the real show finishes will ensure that by the middle of the fanfic, the popularity ratings will almost certainly be based on the fanfic much more than during other seasons where the fanfic was progressing at the same time as the show. Ace - 7. He's an intriguing character, and I hope you do some great things with him Bob - 6. Based on Jeff's statements, I'm guessing we're going to see him dealing with moral dilemas about the game, and he hopefully won't come across as one-dimensional as in the real show. Charlie - 9. It seems as though he'll go far, and I'm hoping you can 'Sherea' him into a much more exciting character than we saw on TV, because preseason he seemed to have a lot of potential that I'm sure you've picked up on. Corinne - 4. Good luck trying to top the real thing :D Crystal - 8. I'm trying to envision her as a strong challnge threat again, but it's difficult. Seiously, though, it sounds like you'll be giving a lot of focus to her character beyond her credentials. I can't wait! Dan - 5. I'm hoping that we see something different from him, on paper he seems like a very inconsequential player from what Jeff said. G.C. - 6. Again, someone who you could do a lot with and potentially sculpt a completely different character. Gillian - 6. I hope she lasts longer than on the real show, but I doubt it. Jacquie - 7. I'm glad that her character will be based on what we saw pre-show, and not the actual thing. Should make it very far. Kelly - 6. See above Ken - 6. It seems like he'll be an early boot in the fanfic. Shame... Marcus - 4. I'm hoping that you'll be able to make me care about him. I didn't preseason, and I don't now. Matty - 5. Again, a fairly generic mactor on paper, but you seem to be playing up his individuality. I'm curious as to whether it comes back to bite him. Michelle - 4. Sounded too much like Parvati pre-season. And the Parvati in my head is the one that was booted in episode 1 of your Cook Islands fanfic, not the one that won the real S16 Paloma - 4. Nothing spectacular on paper or on the real show. I hope you're able to build her a strong character. Randy - 7. I can't wait for your interpretation. Sugar - 5. Curious that there was no mention of her father from Jeff. He didn't say much to make me care either way. Susie - 6. If she gets more that three confessionals before the finale, I'll be impressed. Predictions: While there obviously isn't too much to go by at the moment, I'm fairly confident that this will be an unpredictable season. (Sounds strange, hey?) My reasoning is based on your previous winners: Brandon: Fairly UTR early on, and quite likeable Tina: Strong, dominating older woman JP: Strong, underdog but predictable Stacy: Come-from-behind surprise winner Candace: Popular young woman Dave: Villainous but likeable older man Tracy: Strategic, predictable, unanimous. After JP's win was pedicted early on, you fought back with your most surprising winner to date. After Tracy's win was predicted early on, you will most probably do the same. I don't think this will be the story of 'How ___ lost' because you did that in Fiji, and also partially in Micronesia. But I do think that we will be seeing an open-ended 'free for all' with many twists and turns in the characters' stories, like in Pearl Islands (Fang already looks destined to be a hyper-strategic tangle). I don't think that we will see a dominant alliance stay in power for more than a few episodes, and I'm hoping that this will be due to some very original characters and interpretations. I'm expecting a few people with winner's edits to make it far to take away from the predictability of winners like JP and Tracy. Hopefully it will be just as conusing as the real edgic this season (everyone likes it better that we, even if they won't admit it). This one most certainly will not be obvious, and I can't wait! Looking forward to another fantastic season.

(Will reply to your PM soon) I'll reply to a few of your thoughts, without giving anything away, I hope: Dan - 6 (I like Dan and I think you can do a lot with him... I don't think you will though.) True, but as you know, I try my best to develop everyone, so even if he ends up in my "more ignored" group, you'll probably get more of him than on the real show. Jacquie - 10 (One of my two pre-show favorites... Strong, smart, and beautiful. I would love it if she won, but you'll really have to work hard with her character.) She does have some character potential. It just depends how important she is to the overall story. Marcus - 9 (Pre-show favorite, but will probably be taken out at the merge. Poor guy...) It would be funny if he won this version since so many people were convinced he'd win the real show at one point, myself included. Randy - 5 (I love him and hate him. What else can I say?) That's good to hear. He will be a great character either way. I like the people on Kota better, but I think Fang will be more entertaining... so Fang. I've definitely made an effort in the first few episodes to show both tribes as equally as possible so that one doesn't become "boring." I can't wait (again)! Should be fun. :) Thanks again! :) menelaus: If you think at all like I do, either Jacquie or Charlie will most likely be winning. Pre-show (and proved during the game itself), they seemed to both have the best understanding of the social aspect of the game, actively being nice to people and cooperative so that there isn't a target on their back. The only problem I see is that they are both pretty generic, nice people without anything that makes them particularly insane, which means that they would have to be pitted against some real demons and big personalities at the end. This would be good for hiding either of them as the winner (an F2 of those two would be amazing from a gameplay perspective), and it would be amazingly entertaining to watch Corrine bitch them out at the end. Charlie and Jacquie were the two people that I listed as Jeff's picks to win in the Probst's Thoughts section. That was somewhat based on what I thought of them before the show (I thought they both stood a high chance of getting to the end). Oh, and PLEASE let Corrine make the jury. Her ultimate bitchiness would be epic at the final tribal (though the low blow on Sugar's dead father will certainly be hard to one-up). I've had some fun jury members in the past. I wouldn't try to "one-up" the show though, because that would probably lead to things being more outrageous or over the top than they really would be. I try to stay realistic wherever I can. It may end up being one of the best of the season, just because I love how well thought-out your winner speculation is! -Ace will probably be a villain who goes kind of far. I don't know why but he kind of gives me a late early boot (like episode 5ish) to right before the merge boot. I know I haven't posted it yet, but one of the things I mention in the Press Conference is that there's no shortage of villains this season so you could be right on that. -Bob doesn't leave me with the impression that he'll be a very big character in yoru fanfic True, but he wasn't really a big character in the show either until about the last 3-4 episodes, so we'll see. Thanks for your Popularity ratings - I'm sure some of them will go up/down significantly within a few episodes. -Tracy: Extremely charsmatic you could say with how she got others to change sides and help her win, for a lot of the game you could say she dominated, except early on, overall she'd be remembered as a dominator. That's interesting because even though I agree that she dominated strategically, going by her position in the game with losing so many challenges and low numbers at the merge, I also think of her a bit as an Underdog winner. -Candice: Wasn't as much of a dominator, kind of middle of the roadish, knowing when to switch and when not to switch. I truly remember next to nothing about Candice in All-Stars, which shows me that I don't have a high opinion of that season. But yeah, the only thing I remember is her changing her vote at a bunch of ties. I don't think I've even thought about that season since it ended. :\| So my point about the last four winners? I think we're about due for a story of why second place lost Arguably, Micronesia was a bit of this as well, because I think there was just as much of an understanding of why Brooke lost the jury vote as why Tracy won it. Both of those are great lists! One thing that's interesting is that you have a dominator more likely from Fang and on underdog more likely from Kota. -Susie: On one had she'd be a little bit different from Stacy, but she still seems too similar to Stacy to me, and also gives me a feeling of not being as important for some reason. I agreed with every one you said before this, but I don't really think that Susie would be that similar to Stacy at all. Someone like Corinne or Michelle, definitely, but not Susie, in my opinion. -Crystal: My #1 choice for the dominator who blows it is Crystal, her bio just screams "I'm important", and sounds like she'll dominate at something. Her description from Jeff reminds me a lot of Dave, and leaves me wondering if she'll be like a Dave who actually does blow it, or an obvious F2 loser from early on who really does lose. Hmm. I never go back and read what I said about past contestants, so now I'm interested to go see what I said about Dave. -Marcus: Maybe it's from the show, but more then anyone he reminds me of Earl, he seems too much like Earl in fact, but still since he's similar to Earl I'll put him in my list. If anything, I think he'd be more similar to Yul on the real show. I'm not sure if you were talking about my Earl or the real Earl, but I guess both were dominant in their own way. I don't have much to say in response to the underdogs. I like all of what you said and it's very insightful, but there's not much I can get into at this point. -Bob: Unfortunately a Bob win would be very similar to what we saw on the real season of Gabon, so I pray it's not him. Yeah, in the last few seasons, I haven't noticed much of a problem with these because there have been some characters like Joel getting over 70% last season, yet he was hated by many in the real show. So I think that, for the most part, most people do base their ratings on the characters in the fanfic, and I appreciate that people are able to do that. I'm sure this season will be no different. That's a very good assessment of everything. I just typed in another post that I remember next to nothing about Candice's win, but I guess she was fairly popular. I think you're right that it would be nice to have a less obvious winner after Tracy - I do consider her a bit of an anomaly though in that with her winning unanimously, I wanted her to seem so good that it made sense, and unfortunately that meant making it predictable. One thing I will say is that the predictability or unpredictability is going to be based, like you said, on twists and turns in the characters' stories, not twists and turns in the game. Yes, there are a few twists, including one very controversial one, but there's no way I would do a second tribe swap or anything like that. If the season is unpredictable, it won't be because I fill it with twists. It will be because of the characters and their strategy. I'm expecting a few people with winner's edits to make it far to take away from the predictability of winners like JP and Tracy. Hopefully it will be just as conusing as the real edgic this season (everyone likes it better that we, even if they won't admit it). The only thing with this is that if I'm asking people to invest their time and energy into doing Edgic for a season, I do like for there to be some kind of pay-off at the end. So even though someone like Dave wasn't the best Edgic fit, at least Frosti didn't win cause that would have been bad. So I try not to stray too far, but yeah, JP and Tracy were maybe a little too in your face. This one most certainly will not be obvious, and I can't wait! Looking forward to another fantastic season. The reason it's bad is because for some reason reading your fanfics make me feel better about my favorite players who get booted early and do relatively well in the fanfics (like Tracy). And in Season 18 if there's someone I like and gets booted early for some dumb reason, I can't root for them again on the fanfics. Oh well. :)

As J Daviau said, my next season has my own characters that I created last summer, so I've had lots of time to develop them into well thought-out individuals and I think it will be a great group. Yeah, "Charcus" was the only one I intentionally split up because one of the first articles talked about how there were 3 people after Marcus and one of them was a guy so I knew Charlie would be lusting after him and they would play that up on the show, so I didn't want to go the same direction. Every other pair though was just by coincidence that they were on separate tribes.
