I went from my old-school pk name, to nomi in college ... but that's way too casual for work etc so now i go by a different name as an adult.

if you had a name that you always had to help people pronounce, and you didn't want to or doing so became a bother, then that would be a logical reason to

I have a friend I haven't seen since high school, I recently found her on facebook. She changed her name from Sarah to Stella.
I asked her why, she didn't answer. I've seen others ask her why also, she isn't answering. It is fucking lame. |

I don't want to change my name. It is too strict to change a new name. For example, Larry King was born Lawrence Zeiger and Bob Keane was born Robert Kuhn.

A guy I used to work with changed his last name as an adult...
But at least he had a logical reason. His birth father died when he was a toddler, and when his mother remarried his stepfather adopted him and he assumed his last name. Some time later, his parents divorced and his mother remarried. Shortly before getting married, he had his last name legally changed back to that of his birth father. So, when his (now divorced) parents sent out the wedding announcements to their friends and family it read: (The names have been changed to protect the innocent ... /Joe Friday) Joe Smith and Mary Jones announce the wedding of their son Michael Stivic to Gloria Bunker. It just looked strange. |
