I still believe that depite seemingly overplaying his hand, getting rid of Bob and Matty in the next two TCs is likely. Sugar could wake up tomorrow and suddenly feel bad about voting out Crystal, start crying, and then do something different. She is crazy. Nothing she does is related to strategy... if it were, Matty would be gone.

They never did Finale ratings for that season. Let look at this thing logically. "Everyone" (including Sugar) is wary of Susie/Matty. They know they're together. They have to be broken up. Ken has no one. Sugar can use him now. Bob is an IC and FTC threat. Kenny isn't. Matty kinda is. Makes sense for Matty and Bob to go next. Kenny would beat Sugar and Susie. I say Kenny wins!

Crystal - MOR3 - I don't think she was CP or UTR... so that's a MOR. I also don't think she was N. Ken - OTTN5 - Is it doubt? Is it the beginning of the end? Regardless, it was OTTN. Matty - OTTN4 - He was whining all episode long. It didn't make me sympathize with him, it annoyed me. Sugar - CPP5 - I don't think $*$@# automatically make someone OTT. She was shown strategizing, and we saw the wheels turn in her mind that took her from "Matty, you're going" to "Let's vote Crystal." Susie - UTR2 - I kept waiting for her to have a coming out episode. It's just not gonna happen. She was useful to the editors in the Marcus boot episode. Besides that, she just doesn't play a role in the season. Maybe she's a Becky, with no shot of winning against two people who do have a shot. Winners: Bob Ken Matty No chance: Sugar Susie Yeah, it's pathetic to list three people as possible winners this late in the season, but this hasn't been your average season. Before that they gave us the Suzie was crazy story, when in reality she made one of the biggest moves in the game that secured her place for awhile, at the same time turning the game around.

Well, a lot of posters are in here with lots of doubt in the Edgic pick. But, Edgic, by consensus, says it's Kenny.

Kenny's reality justifies the editing he's received if he won or finished fifth or fourth. Susie's someone I completely overlooked -not for a win -but for making the final three. But maybe her "i gotta make that final three" justifies it, and she just doesn't fit into the equation of final council. with the way these people think and play, it seems impossible that Kenny or Bob doesn't go next based on who wins immunity. I don't think Kenny's story can show him outwitting Sugar after she outwits him -and the sun/star scene justifues the Sugar/Matty union. matty's scene with Ace I guess could be perceived as over now that Sugar saved him with the idol (in terms of the story -in reality, he was already saved by Bob and Susie). I'm giving the edge to Matty because logically Kenny has too much ground to make up.

Posts: 477 (12/11/08 9:11 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	lots of games, other than basketball, can be played on a basketball court Not in my neighborhood! why examining obviously manipulated editing sequences and using logic to determine their meaning doesn't qualify as Edgic-ball By that definition, almost any non-spoiler spec can be called edgic, including Family Final Four, the Fox/Goat thing, and Head, Heart, Hands (if that still survives) in Sucks, as well as other spec threads in other Survivor-related sites. How you "determine their meaning" is what defines your method. But in the spirit of sportsmanship, I will try to play your game. Let's stipulate that the "theme" of S17 truly is Good versus Evil. Do you really think they would pound us over the head again and again with that, if the winner is the "good" one (Matty/Bob)? Would they make it so blatant and obvious? Oops ... I slipped back into edgic again!

Who needs the idol?!") and I was thinking deliberate misdirection. I don't know how they're going to rewrite Kenny's constant fumbling backwards dive into the win as some stroke of strategic genius, but I'm confident it's the same thing. Kenny wins for sure, I'd say.

Ken is the only player who got any sort of doubt in this episode.

"...I'm just praying I can find the strength to finish." The whole season has been about this type of story over strategy.

I think the third episode of Survivor that I have missed live since I've been addicted to it. With the time crunch, I'm going to go ahead and show my ratings after only seeing it once because I won't have time to watch it again before the finale. I'm going to go straight to analyzing the players instead of the ratings... Bob - We need to really have themes play into edgic if he wins. He's one of the good guys in Gabon, and that's the only thing that is going for him. However, I think his winning chances are less than 1%. Ken - As much as people think he's going to win edgically, the story line doesn't make sense. The evil rat wins at the end? That really doesn't make sense to me... Matty - He's the good guy who has found himself and his love in Gabon. He fits the story perfect, and isn't horrible with his edgic ratings. Though his edgic ratings may not be as good as Ken's, his story line is better in my opinion. Sugar - I would love for her to win, but I don't think she will. A lot like Bob, but I'll say a tad over 1%... Susie - I think she should end with an INV at the finale. Seriously, no visibility and no story... Eliminated for sure. My thoughts: Ken goes next so that all of the evil players are out of the game. Bob follows because of being a huge threat... leaving the finals to be Matty, Sugar, and Susie. Susie takes the Becky role and doesn't get any votes. By either 7-0-0, 6-1-0, 5-2-0, or 4-3-0, Matty beats Sugar in the finals. Matty will win. "The good guys will win at the end."

Crystal: MOR3 She was not even the focal point of her own boot episode. Hmmm …. And the basketball shot, they could not resist getting in one last dig at her athletic ability. Ken: CPN4 Commentary in the winners section. Matty: MORP3 I find it hard to believe that our winner would be shown being told to shut up and leave the thinking to Sugar (!) Sugar: MORP3 The commentary that follows is my personal opinion, not the intent of the editing: what a hypocritical little prig you are. Susie: UTR1 Another episode, same rating ... Winner: Ken - I've come this far with this pick, so I can't bail now (the darkest hour is just before the dawn etc etc). It makes no sense to me why they would edit S17 as the story of why Ken came 5^th or 4^th. His edit, even the past 2 episodes, is just too well-constructed for somebody that does not go to the end. After this episode, you wouldn't think he has a prayer - that, ladies and gentlemen, is doubt. No way the Giants beat the Pats in the Super Bowl either. Sugar has got her revenge on Ken, but Ken is still in the game. And if Ken didn't win, who did? Bob - way too invisible pre-merge, and rationally why would they take him to the end (this good person stuff is all well and good until there is $1M staring you in the face). Matty - second best edgic choice, but even tonight not shown as much of a player (his final confessional pre-IC is not what I'd look for in a winner) Susie - well, that would be the end of Edgic … Sugar - low visibility in the first 2 episodes, then too OTTP

"Well, Kenny was the best pick edgically (after our real first pick, Marcus, got voted out), but if you look back at the season, edgic principles actually support (fill-in-the-blank)'s victory, so edgic succeeded again!" /High-fives exchanged amongst edgicians. I called it back on November 19th (http://www.survivorsucks.com/topic/41767), and all I used was some common sense. None of this faux-science silliness.
