I'm not gonna lie, when the courier guy went back into the safe to get the sketchbook, I thought he really was just going to bring it out to them. I never
even thought he'd try to get away.

Let me give a crack at answering all of NC's questions.

Another gaping character hole... Sylar and the Haitian are standing in the same room. Let's ignore the fact that Sylar can still use his abilities while
Arthur can't so now he's dead. Sylar ignores Peter because he has no powers. Okay. So why doesn't he take the Haitian's? You would think being
able to nullify all powers would come in handy. Instead, he walks out and ignores the one guy that can actually kill him.
Amazing. |

He actually did say something to the Haitian and Peter. He said somethig to the effect of "Don't be afraid. You have nothing I want"

Reading NC's post reminds me of how pissed I was about Niki dying. Sure, Tracy's awesome and all, but it was very wasteful having so much depth in
Niki/Jessica only to have it thrown away just like that?

OK, so who is the stupidest character? Hiro, Peter or Mohinder?
For a long time I would have voted for Mohinder, but after the last episode, I'd have to agree with Kaito's assessment of Hiro. <gak!> |

It was stupid because Nikki was a very good character. Remember in season 1, when she was locked up and they were interviewing her and her personalities
switched back and forth? That was awesome. She managed to overcome Jessica and became a decent character...only to die in a fire??? OH - and just remembering
how EVERY moment from season 1 was great and memorable...and now I barely bother to watch...it's just sad. I'm not a hater! I rarely become as
dedicated to a show like this, and I honestly feel like its let me down. The writers were paid more to end the strike so they could come back and do THIS? The
first 3 or 4 eps of this season were good, but now? BLECH!!!

But Niki died saving Monica, one of the most important characters to the show, so her unfortunate death was an emotional one the audience could connect
with!1!!

Also, when Sylar made the "nothing I want" comment, he specifically named Peter. The Hatian literally turned and walked away

The first five episodes were really good, then the episode where they killed Adam is where is went downhill. I actually thought episode four, the one where
they went into the Future again, was better then the first seasons future episode.
They should take a page from Lost's production book and start going only to airing once a year. Maybe then they'd get their damn act together. Also, when Sylar made the "nothing I want" comment, he specifically named Peter. The Hatian literally turned and walked away Then in that case "WTF" |

Add me to pissed off multitudes. I think what it comes down to is that Tim Kring doesn't respect the story. He bragged during season 1 about how he'd
never read a comic book, and it's really starting to show. The great SF/fantasy/horror shows we've had on TV in the past were all made by people who
were fans and respected the genre. I think Kring & Co. think that a 'comic book' show doesn't have to make sense -- it's all about
superficial characters, lots of special effects and OTT villains. And if you think about it, that's exactly what this show has become -- it's a lot
like reading a comic from the 1950s.
Arthur's death was stupid, though I think they've finally figured out that the Syler/Peter/Arthur heroes are just too damned powerful. So I actually liked the fact that the Haitian couldn't hold Arthur's powers at bay -- we saw some limitations on the Haitian's powers, which is good. There needs to be some balance in the powers. Hiro's character has been the most disappointing. He started out as the geeky fanboy who was the only hero who embraced his powers, but now he's devolved into a silly, childish buffoon who (I assume) the writers think will appeal to the 6 year olds in the audience. Hiro's scene with his mother was beautiful, and I agree with the previous poster who pointed out that Masi is a wonderful actor who could do so much more with this character if the writers wouldn't give him such crap to work with. The time travel scene made sense to me, though it was (as everything else) poorly executed. As I understand it, in the original timeline, Claire became the Catalyst. In the revised timeline, Hiro had to be there to meet his mother as an adult and receive the Catalyst, while Claire needed to be there to stop HRG from answering the phone. I attributed HRG's believing Claire to his figuring out who she is, though I would have preferred a greater reveal -- like her calling him "Dad". HRG knows about powers, so we'd have to figure that he wouldn't be too shocked at time travel. To me, this show almost seems like a throwback to the Lost in Space days of TV SF, and I suspect Tim Kring and his cronies laugh at those of us who are so picky as to complain about silly things like logical plots and character development. This show is so frustrating because it is full of potential to be a great show, and these assholes are just wasting it. |

Quick thoughts:
About the whole legendary sketchbook, we all knew about this. If I remember correctly, Isaac did give his sketchbook to a fan before Sylar came and killed him in Season 1. I am praying to God that the writers finally get rid of Hiro once and for all. Arthur took his power, and now he's dead, so there's no way Hiro can get back to present time. (Unless of course, another eclipse comes around, he finds another person with abilities, he finds The Doctor and gets a ride on the TARDIS, et cetera, blegh.) Oh, and that soldier guy was that brother from The 4400. He looked SO familiar (just like Breckin Meyer), and I find it pretty cool that after he acquired an ability from an awesome show that slowly lost its edge over the years on The 4400, he guest stars on a show that was awesome at the beginning but severely lost its edge over the years and gains an ability. Foreshadowing much? ;) |

After that amazing scene with his mother, why couldn't they have just let Hiro be the hero for fucks sake. The entire sequence with Arthur pissed me off. |

And how the fuck did Arthur know where Hiro and Claire were?

*sigh*. I'll admit, I watched last night. And I'll watch the finale. But it's painful. It's like watching a boyfriend/girlfriend succumb to
mental disease. Ya catch just enough glimpses of what it used to be like, and hope it's coming back...
They have had SO many opportunities to make Hiro useful or compelling. And every single time, they opt to make him a Jerry Lewis oaf. Every.single.time. He could be a badass, near-deity figure that appears occasionally, but no. He's their equivalent of the football-to-the-groin video. Sylar... just makes no sense. And not even in a good, unpredictable way. He's not anarchic, he's just poorly written. Even his 'badass' moments are laughable, like 'Cake?' and 'You're not a killer... but I am' Puh-leez. Claire - just die already. And Peter. You're both bad, bad actors, and whatever appeal your characters had, it is long gone. Screw it. Why bother suggesting how to improve the show, they obviously have no clue. |

The only thing I can think of was that the Haitian let Sylar kill Arthur, and with his ability was able to keep Sylar from knowing he had his ability?

I spent my ninth birthday in a glass room with an IV of lithium in my arm. I've lived in this building for sixteen years, ever since the shrinks diagnosed me as a sociopath with paranoid delusions. But they're just out to get me cause I threatened to kill them. I'm twenty-four years old and I've never gone on a date. Never been on a roller-coaster. Never been swimming. For this memoriam post I wanted a gif of her shocking Peter when she kissed him and one of her shooting that glass while sunbathing and meeting Mohinder for the first time, but I couldn't find them and had to include Sylar and Claire. Which really just makes this all the more tragic. |
