Facebook would be cooler |

nothing's stopping you from PMing the person before you do those things!

no I'm talking about random acts of cruelty popping up in your feed every time you log in

Oh.
Well it should certainly at least be an option. |

That's a really terrible idea.

I personally hate the mini-feed and have it set up so no one knows when I do anything ever.

Facebook would be cooler if there were more computer viruses designed specifically for it (like the recent Koobface). That way there's a sense of danger,
and people would be more reluctant to "friending" random people. It would be more like real life. Tila Tequila* would end up with as many computer
viruses as she has real viruses.
*I realize she's more myspace than facebook. I'm also depressed that I know that, since I abhor both sites, and think that most people that use them are generally pathetic. |

Yeah, it's pathetic for people to keep in contact with friends.

so i just signed up a week ago. i'm now friends with a random assortment of people from high school and past colleagues, 2 of whom 'threw
snowballs' at me today.
so, i have to click on these things and throw them back, even tho some of my other friends will point and laugh? there should be a way to partition off geeky conduct when one must participate in order to be polite. |

If you communicate with friends that you are near mainly through facebook or myspace, yes that's pathetic. If most of your "friends" are people you have never met, that's extremely pathetic. If you actually use these sites to just "keep in contact" with people, that's fine, but there are better ways to do that in my opinion. |

some of us have moved and gone to different colleges, so we know people all over the country. i looked up people on facebook that i wouldn't have ever
known how to find.
it's not pathetic. it's 2.0. i think the networks are: * myspace -- youngest demographic. for meeting new people. public profiles. * facebook -- broad demographic, not all young. for staying in touch with people and reconnecting with past friends. you can see profiles only by becoming someone's friend. * linked in -- professional network for school and work colleagues. i also use it to connect to some clients. |

Myspace is such a hot mess, I only use it because most of the freshman and sophomores at my high school haven't 'graduated' to facebook yet. Only a
few of us use facebook, but once you hit junior year you ditch the myspace and start facebooking. You just HAVE too. All of the upperclassman have one.
Facebook is so clean. I love it. Some of my friends said they don't understand it. Its kinda hard to work at first, but you get it. Plus, its easier to find people I've met at like events and tournaments and stuff. |

Yea, facebook is college, myspace is high school. The main reason I switched was with the stupid iphone ads that were all over myspace and account hackinga nd
the stupid music and ugly backgrounds and shit.

I pretty much find most of the posters here pathetic as well. I have less than 1000 posts in about five years. While I may be pathetic, it has little to do
with my internet activities.
ETA: I've never understood the supposed flame of "lawl, you post on this messageboard", especially when it comes from two people with around 20000 posts here.
