You cannot go to a Green Shift during a recession. It would tank our economy to the US levels.

Iggy is smart. A Dion PM and a delay of the leadership convention is disastrous.

My new friends are all Iggy delegates Freeky Fryer. They hate Dion as bad as anyone in the Conservative benches. The two who I had a 5 hour lunch and drinks
with today said they absolutely dread a Dion government because it will mean Dion and the Liberal brand will own the recession and job losses instead of
Harper.
Does anyone think that Dion & Jack Ass won't tank the economy? I believe they could even be worse than Rae in the last recession in Ontario. |

eta: this was in response to post 1940... you guys are too quick. gonna read the Iggy article now. there's still so many unknowns at this point... I dunno. they'll throw so much money into the economy, that in the short-term it probably won't tank. long term, it might be trouble, but we got some breathing room to absorb such actions, temporarily.... I do think they'll drop or delay the green shaft w/ "the economy 1st" as an excuse, IMO. the only green thing right now is the faces of a bunch of nauseous CONS. btw, nothing at the top of the hour on Newsworld. ??? I don't think I hallucinated their "breaking news" @ 6:06 PT, but my brain's been acting funny since I stopped smokin' da BC bud. (like it's got me visiting this place fairly regularly again) might be time to spark one up, again. . ok, just noticed yer Iggy article now. this thing has taken on a life of it's own at this point. not a huge Iggy fan, but he looks POWERFUL compared to Professor Dion... and I'll take him over the somewhat inspiring, but baggage-laden Rae, anyday.

If Dion had some sense he would step aside NOW. It is just getting embarrassing for this fool.

NDP, Liberals reach deal to topple minority Tory government
CBC News The NDP and Liberals have reached a deal to topple the minority Conservative government and take power themselves in a coalition, CBC News has learned. A deal has been negotiated between NDP Leader Jack Layton and Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion that would see them form a coalition government for two and a half years, the CBC's Keith Boag reported, citing sources. The NDP would be invited into cabinet and get 25 per cent of seats, Boag said, adding that the party wouldn't get the position of the finance chair or the deputy prime minister's post. "That's the big step forward tonight," Boag reported. The Bloc Québécois wouldn't be a part of the coalition, but would have to support it, he said. "The most difficult question is who'll be the leader," Boag said, adding that Dion, who negotiated the deal, believes he has the right to be prime minister. Opposition parties say they have lost confidence in the government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper after Thursday's economic update by Finance Minister Jim Flaherty failed to provide a stimulus package for Canadians. Since then, the Liberals have been in negotiations to form a coalition with the NDP, and the concessions made by the Conservatives this weekend have done nothing to change the party's view that Harper must go. ---------------
OK, I guess I wasn't hallucinating. But I don't put a lot of stock in all this... yet. |

Dion has a chance to go down in history as the man who slayed Harper, but if he insists on being PM, he'll probably go down in history as an EPIC FAILure. The fact that the Libs wrested the finance ministry away from the NDP in this "deal", though (Layton was rumoured to covet it) makes me think there still may be be something to it.. PM Goodale as a compromise? think my first post about all this said "egos" would probably prevent this coalition from blooming, but I'm 50/50, right now. what's your Blackberry saying, J. Cobb? (it's probably less biased than Ivison) |

it is midnight so it has tricked down to just 3 emails in the last 2 hours. The Igginites are raising arms against the Dionites, Scott Brison wonders where the
cool Sodomites are, and most of the rank and file wish the political landscape wasn't looking like the Caanites land today.
No one is going to move against Dion publicly until the official Iggy instructions go out. It really isn't a split like the Chretien Martin days, but a solid pro-Iggy cabal. Dion is toast. |

Vicc, would you prefer: Dion can go down in history as one of the initiators of a pact that helped put a seemingly suicidal Harper out of OUR misery? :-) |

FWIW, The Globe und Mail's reporting the same thing as CBC now, w/ one exception. Who will be PM is undetermined at this point. ::: crosses fingers it'll be Mitsou ::: . according to Globe: 18 Libs in cabinet, 6 DeepPee'ers |
