18. Tarzan (Tarzan)
Tarzan has probably one of the coolest looks of any Disney guy (except for the long hair - I'm not a fan of that. And you would think after years out in the jungle, he'd at least have some facial hair. Just saying). He looks and is incredibly badass and I love the way he "surfs" through the trees and swings from vines, not to mention the way he takes on the leopard and wins! That said, he's never been my favorite personality-wise. I really liked him when he was the kid who wanted to fit in but didn't, but after he grew up, he lost some of his charm (even if he's kind of hot!) Adult Tarzan basically had two personalities: a goofy one when he was with Jane, Clayton, etc and just learning how to be human and a more serious one when he was with his gorilla family. The former was kind of annoying and the latter was just meh.



17. Pocahontas (Pocahontas)
And just to prove I am not biased against the older Disney films, Pocahontas is number 17 on the list. I'm pretty much indifferent to both the character and the movie. For me, it came in the middle of two really awesome Disney movies (The Lion King and The Hunchback of Notredame) and it didn't really live up to either of them, but it had a lot to offer in both music and animation. Anyway, Pocahontas is the first Native American main character in a Disney movie and for the most part, her look and the way she is portrayed is pretty good. I've heard lots of people complain about how Disney messed up the story of the real historical figure, but to tell the truth, that never really bothered me that much. Aparently though, the real Pocahontas was about twelve years old while the Disney version is twenty-something. Eh. Anyway, Pocahontas is a pretty kickass character. She is strong and unafraid to speak her mind. On the other hand, she can be sort of preachy too (ya' know, the whole "colors of the wind" spiel she gave John Smith.)




16. Alice (Alice in Wonderland)
Alice in Wonderland, based on Lewis Carrol's trippy novel, was never one of my favorites when I was a kid. In fact, it creeped me out even more than Peter Pan. I like it and appreciate it much more now, however, and I find Alice to actually be a fairly relatable character. She is an absent-minded, somewhat ditzy young girl who is bored with her teacher's lesson, so instead of listening, she wanders off and follows the creepy white rabbit into Wonderland. What I like about Alice is that she has the same reaction to the creepyness of Wonderland I would have. She actually gets freaked out. She's like "wtf is this place?" and "how the hell do I get out of here?" and I mean, why shouldn't she be? If she was having a great time and thought everything she encountered was neat, this would be like the Beatle's Yellow Submarine or something. Lol. Anyway, so through her journey in Wonderland, Alice ends up learning a valuable lesson: to stay off the bong until she's a little older.
