It does get discouraging to see so many strange people on this site and very few normal ones. But I have to believe there are a few normal, intelligent and down-to-earth women out there. Are you among them?

I'm seeking a Christian. That means you have trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior and you are seeking to be obedient to the Lord. We all sin and fall short of God's glory, and we who are believers are thankful for His mercy and forgiveness.

I'm professional and educated, which doesn't make me "better" than anyone else; I mention this because I am seeking someone I can relate to, and I relate best to women who are educated and intelligent. Intelligence is more important than education, however. My interests include reading, hiking, baseball, road trips, board games and '70s pop music. I'm a non-smoker, and you should be too. Greetings.

Have you ever felt that every date was Halloween, in that the guys you dated were wearing a mask? They hide who they really are, but you get a really ugly surprise when you find out. You think they are John McCain, and they really turn out to be Barack Obama. Now THAT'S scary.

I'll be the first to admit I'm not perfect. I have worked hard, and I have integrity. But I am very aware of most of my shortcomings, and I won't try to hide them from you. People deserve to know who the real person is whom they are dating, not a person created by a personal public relations campaign. Sure, we all want to put our best foot forward, and I think that's normal. But I am not going to brag or tell you I earn a six-figure income (well, I guess I do if you count the decimal points!), drive a Porsche, or that I'm 6-3 and 185 pounds and athletic. I'm not going to brag about my sexual prowess or appetite. I'm unashamed about being counter-cultural.

I'm a Midwest guy who has detoured through many other places, mostly due to having served eight years in the armed forces and a decision to move to Texas to attend a particular church. (Oh yes, I am a Christian, and you will need to be, too.) God opened doors for me, and I earned a B.A. in journalism -- a degree that has served me well for 18 years.

Perhaps because I'm an editor and former newspaper reporter, I value strong written and verbal communication. I'll be honest with you -- if you have trouble speaking and writing the English language, we won't be a match. My interests include baseball, reading, hiking, road trips, '70s music and some board games. How about some Scrabble? Game on!

I don't have an IPOD, a Blackberry, a wide-screen plasma TV, watch American Idol, a drink beer. I feel no need to conform to the culture. I don't believe in same-sex marriage or being 420 friendly. (If you guessed I am a Republican, you are essentially correct.) I do try to dress well, albeit casual. There's little need for me to wear a suit, since the dress code at my job is business casual. I don't smoke, and I seldom drink. It's OK if you drink occasionally, but I won't date a smoker.

Yes, it may amaze some of you ladies, but chivalry is still alive. But most women don't expect it, and some seem uncomfortable with it. Don't you understand? When I hold the door open for you, I'm putting your needs first and placing you on a pedestal. It's a privilege for a man to have a great woman in his life, and anything he can do to show his appreciation should be honored.

If you are into tatoos, drugs, smoking or riding 4-wheelers or motorcycles, we are not going to be a match. I go for the feminine, girl-next-door type. And if you say you are spiritual but don't attend church, we are not a match. I am a CHRISTIAN and I am looking for a CHRISTIAN. How many ways can I say that? I continue to get responses from women who seem to ignore that, even though I make it very clear.

I'm looking for a reasonably attractive woman who knows how to carry on an intelligent conversation. No Obama supporters, please. I usually connect best with women who are in their 40s or early 50s. No one over 54 please.

You know how it goes -- you could pick the wrong door and end up with 10 bags of potato chips and a case of soft drinks...when you could have had me! Never mind that there was a new car behind Door No. 3...

Anyway, I'm a Baby Boomer who remembers when TV shows were in black and white, Beatles' wigs and 45s of "She Loves You" were all the rage, Chevy had a car called the Corvair with its engine in the rear, Ford had a car called the Falcon, "gay" referred only to being happy, and Americans were not ashamed of the words "In God We Trust."

I'm looking for a woman in her 40s to early 50s who is intelligent, an excellent conversationalist, feminine, romantic and affectionate. Above all she MUST be a Christian who attends church regularly. Non-smokers only, please.

I enjoy hiking, road trips, baseball, reading, board games and '70s music. I work out regularly but have always struggled with my weight. I'm educated and employed in a great job. I own a condo in Powell.

I'm a huge Chicago White Sox fan and was thrilled to attend the first two games of the 2005 World Series. I have traveled to Rocky Mountain National Park many times for hiking trips, and in September 2007 I fulfilled a goal by backpacking across the Continental Divide. I'm not an extreme sports guy, but I do have a sense of adventure; I have flown a glider and piloted a military trainer in a mock dogfight. I could have been a DJ...I love to play my '70s songs for anyone who will listen. I read a wide variety of books -- sports, fiction, history, biography, Christian.

Politically and theologically, I'm conservative. I am a loyal and dedicated friend. I also give great back rubs!
