And, frankly, I have never understood the logic of this.

I suppose for some people it is less logic and more a hard-wired, visceral response. Still, I don't get it.

I don't react that way -- not to food, not to life experiences.

Sure, I have learned not to repeat mistakes and "youthful indiscretions." The older I get, the less likely I am to put myself into risky situations that didn't feel quite so dangerous when I was a kid.

But... never again trying a food item because it made me feel bad seventeen years ago? That doesn't compute.

I have a friend who claims she has "food poisoning" at least once a month. She doesn't: she has a tummy-ache. She'll swear off the offending item forever. Currently, I think all she has left that she can actually eat safely is lettuce, couscous and brownies.

Yeah, give it here. I'll eat it.

I suspect your gag reflex has been triggered in many other ways, too.
