CBR and raa - I know IT folks are contracted out. In this case, noe. And he is certainly not a "help desk" person - he has a help desk that works FOR him and calls him at 2:00am.
Phoofe, this is so much more than help-desk people. My husband was pretty well up the food chain in IT at a major financial services company. Like so many other people, after a long and dedicated career, he got a severence package and the opportunity to be part of the team that turned over the keys to the new management group from India. Don't ever think this can't happen to your husband. If anything, help desk level people can still find work here in the US because they aren't paid well and there is customer demand for native English speakers. My husband's now self-employed. We're fine, thanks in part to never buying in to keeping up with the Joneses. Don't ever think it can't happen to you.
