If it hasn't been mentioned yet, Blanton is the first pitcher to homer in the WS since 1974, and the first NL pitcher since 1968. Dave McNally and Bob
Gibson each had 2 career WS HRs, and Gibson is the only man to homer and give up a homer to another pitcher in the same WS.

Barring Hamels breaking his left arm or Kazmir transforming into Sandy Koufax, there is no way the Phillies don't clinch tonight.
Nice touch by the Philadelphia DN with the "Joe the Lumber" headline. What's the combined BA of the Phillies pitchers in the playoffs? It must be over .300. admit it twisted, you're kinda rooting for the phillies now too. lol I wouldn't go that far but I'll admit this is a likeable Phillies team. They have a bunch of gamers who have a burning desire to win which is something that's clearly lacking from my team. |

That stat that shocks me is that NL DHers are hitting something like .053 alltime. You have to think that the pitchers themselves couldn't do any worse. |

Most of the haters are pulling for them ( I must have a concussion or something).
But really...it's nice to see long suffering fans get their championship. Hope they DO clinch it tonight...that would be nice for the fans in attendance (especially the ones forkin over big bucks). |

Yeah, I've NEVER fought with you in the football thread. All those times you beated your chest about the Eagles winning division titles didn't
happen apparently. See, I can always fall back on the fact that I saw the Mets win a WS. You have nothing to fall back on when it comes to the Eagles except a
nice big round donut.
And this is exactly why I have the trump card. The fact that I got you to root for one of MY teams to win it all is the cream of the crop. I will ALWAYS have that over you . Only way you can match that is with a Red Sox/Phillies or
Yankees/Phillies WS with the Phillies winning it all. Almost happened this year so keep hope alive and maybe one day you'll be on my level.
Until then, you're still my lackey. Now go wash my car. |
