I would guess it's because that could get very confusing and then the show would revolve around everyone stealing it from one another and they'd always have to have a camera on each and every person so they didn't miss it. I think logistically it would be difficult to allow stealing of the idol. Why don't they just get rid of the stupid thing already and end the debate...
