hard to say which was creepier, glen, betty's brother or betty's daddy?X Cool that the most normal guy in Betty's life is Don, the one she's kicked out of her house. |

I would have to cross Betty's dad off the creepy list. Even though it was very creepy, he never meant to actually do that. I found it more sad than
anything else

Paul held a party where we were introduced to his pseudo-Bohemian lifestyle and new African-American girlfriend. Joan basically called him out as a poser and mocked him. In retaliation, Paul posted a copy of Joan's driver's license, showing she's 30, in the break room to try and humiliate her at the office. Joan remarks to Peggy that she just wants to do her job or something that shows she really thought what Paul did was too far. Someone can correct me, but that's why I thought Joan handled the situation the way she did. |

Had some choice lines. Betty's with "you're drunk, Bets" coming in from the tree house was great.
And Pete's brother on abortion was passive aggresive WASP disapproval at its finest: "well, people do that." |

The actor playing Betty's father was a dead ringer for John McCain. I felt for Betty when he kept mistaking her for his deceased wife, especially with the
groping.

Speaking of which, I was kind of worried that Hildy was going to make another move on him at the baby shower. Oh, and I loved Cooper coming in and wishing him a Happy Birthday. I normally can't stand Pete, but this episode made me have a little sympathy towards him. His mother is a cold piece of work, with her complete and utter disdain towards adoption. His brother isn't much better. Considering the way his father treated him before his death, it's no wonder he acts the way he does. |

I think it was all to hint that her dad never really got over Betty's mom. The resentment from "the new family" was palpable.

(and i don't mean that to sound like "people do that", if you get my drift.) i'm getting all confused about the time line here. but don seems to have been living in that hotel forever (and it really helps too when you show re-runs during the season, mad men! thanks, you morons.) i totally get throw-his-ass-out betty, batshit-crazy betty, even drunk-pajama betty. (i think those are official kübler-ross stages of grief.) what i don't get is the set-your-friend-up-for-infidelity betty or the drag-don-along-for-show-when-your-dad-has-a-stroke-and-then-boink-him-on-his-pathetic-off-to-the-side-little-bundle-of-bed betty or especially the don't-even-allow-don-to-shower-your-betty-stank-off-him-and-throw-don's-ass-out-your-house betty. *sofa shakes his head* and then! and then! betty gets all weird with glen on the couch? usually i can see where a show is going with a character. i don't fully understand don, roger, pete, peggy or joan. but i have a general direction. betty? no fucking clue. i'm sure that's weiner's intention. betty gives me the heebie jeebies... |

But she's fascinating, isn't she, OG sofa?
About the "drag-don-along-for-show-when-your-dad-has-a-stroke" -- well, we know Betty does not like to be embarrassed and much of what she does is to keep up appearances, so I think that's why she brought him along. In regards to "boink-him-on-his-pathetic-off-to-the-side-little-bundle-of-bed betty or especially the don't-even-allow-don-to-shower-your-betty-stank-off-him-and-throw-don's-ass-out-your-house betty" -- It made her feel as if she had control of the relationship, for a change. What she really wants (I think) is for Don to beg forgiveness and swear undying love and he certainly isn't going to do that. In fact, he wants her to go along with his lies. As far as the "set-your-friend-up-for-infidelity Betty "I think she was just washing her hands of the two of them. |

Frankly, I'm tiring of those scenes between them. They are bordering on redundant at this point. The story needs to move on one way or another. My preference would be he quits being so damned stoic about it, but whatever. |

betty wants don to pitch her. she verbalized how persuasive he is and she cannot understand why he won't bullshit her into submission. she is insulted that
he spends more time thinking about wooing a client than her.

I wouldn't be surprised if Don doesn't come back from California. This is the guy who was ready to ditch his wife and kids and run off to Mexico with
Rachel Menkin, remember? He ain't coming home...but then again, if he didn't, the show wouldn't be about Mad Men anymore. Oh, poo.
