Knowing someone on a casual basis because you live in the same neighborhood and served on a charity board together somehow equals having him work on your presidential campaign staff? Now it would be a different story if this Charity, a Charity that focused on developing community programs to aid the poor, was proposing something radical like arming them so they could storm city hall to get attention, and did not resign from the board and report them to authorities. Now that would be horseshit...

Actually I think that amount of money spread over a state the size of California really doesn't amount to many dollars trickling down to the local level, but staying at the State level. What little goes to the local level is usually distributed by the State Attorney General on a competitive grant basis. I used to assist my local police dept in preparation of their budgets, and in writing grants to bring this money to our small town so we could add badly needed extra officers that the city had no money to pay for, and voters would not approve extra levy money.

If the board had a radical agenda, then no I would not. If the board was an otherwise stable one with a mission I believed in and the board was responsibly following that mission, then yes I would. It would also be part of my responsibility as a board member to make sure that stated vision and mission is adhered to. So if suddenly some wacko like Eric Rudolph or William Ayers strayed from them mission and suddenly wanted to blow something up? That's easy, you introduce a motion to expel that person from the board.

Ever hear of sarcasm? I also have no problem with the free lunch program. I think every child in America should have not only a full belly, but health insurance to boot. 2. This country definitely needs to mandate a living wage, and we already supplement low wage earners, so I'm assuming that question was rhetorical. What I do have a problem with is asking people to pay more than a combined total of 50% of their wages (combined fed/state/local). That's simply outrageous. I don't believe the answer is higher taxes, I believe the answer is to cut governmental spending, and before you get your panties in a twist, I'm not suggesting cutting social programs. There is plenty of other spending that can be cut. This is what I love about Sucks. Someone doesn't want to be taxed into the poorhouse, so it must mean they hate children, civil servants, the military, and or course America as a whole.
