OMG! I was SCREAMING! He was totally below the yellow line!
eta-Bullshit Smith! The rules don't change for the last lap dumbass. |

So they did rule that Smith went below the yellow line? That Tony didn't force him down? *scratches head*

He didn't look that forced below the line. What a bitter betty. He ought to be happy he finished all the laps unscathed.
And Paul Menard needs to shave those never ending mutton chops. |

Even if he was forced below the yellow line, you're not allowed to advance your place.
That's what I thought the rule was. Menard and his chops. FANCY. |

So by that, he shouldn't have been able to get in front of Tony when he came back up on the track and should have come back in second... correct? But, yeah, he should've made his move earlier. A more experienced driver probably would have done it. |

NA$CAR placed Regan Smith 18th. I call bullshit! While he shouldn't have been awarded the win, he shouldn't have been placed that far back, either,
IMO. I think he should have been left second or third, whatever his position would have been if he'd just gotten back in line.

Regan Smith has been so screwed, maybe not out of a win, but to place him 18th? Come on.
From the Nascar.com writeup... "NASCAR reviewed the move -- a driver is allowed to make the pass if officials believe he was forced under the line -- and declared it illegal." Once again, this is another one of those rules that nobody can remember what's correct and what's not. Ugh. Hmm, I just came across this: Below yellow line at Daytona/Talladega OK on last lap: Drivers throughout the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series garage were still talking about last week's three-wide finish at Daytona International Speedway. While they admitted the finish was good for television, most wondered why NASCAR allowed Johnny Benson to drive below the yellow line - Daytona's out of bounds line - to jump from third to second in the final 200 yards. Benson wasn't penalized because "if you can see the checkered flag on the last lap, anything goes," according to NASCAR spokesman Owen Kearns.(Augusta Chronicle)(2-24-2007) What a pickle NA$CAR has got themselves into.

Wow.... I'm watching the race now, but I was following on nascar.com at work.
GO TONY!!!!!! *dances* I can't wait to see how NA$CAR is going to explain the Regan Smith = 18th place shiite though. Teresa might kneecap Mike Helton. |
