Costco Kirkland brand is really decent. The Lamb & Rice has no corn or wheat - so it's higher quality. Dogs are carnivores, they don't need as many grains.

wrs - how much does your dog crap out with 4 cups of food a day? If you go with a higher quality food - he'll actually eat less and use more of it instead
of just shitting the filler stuff right back out again.

starbuck eats 3 cups a day plus a can of wet total. He's also still a puppy though and his food intake will decrease when he hits a year.

My dog eats 4 cups of quality dog food each day and she also poops alot.
She is very regular -- out the door at 5:15 am, takes care of her business and then brings in the papers, gets a snack and then back upstairs and back to sleep. She comes downstairs sometime during the morning and eats her breakfast and then goes back to bed. Someone is home at noon to let her out for a walk or run and she takes care of her business again. My son gets home from school at 2:45 but the dog does not acknowledge his existence. She comes downstairs about 4ish and then goes outside and hangs out til around 6:30 when she leaps upon the sliding door and wants to come back in -- she eats dinner and promptly goes back to sleep. She goes out around 9:30 to take care of business again, comes in the house, climbs into someones bed and sleeps until morning. |

He does crap a lot, 4-5 piles a day. Thats a lot huh? He is a big dog.
He does get lots of treats too, along with his crappy pedigrre DF. He had a Kong, I put treats or peanut butter in it and lot of bones to chew. |

Newman's Own Organic dry mixed with Purina dry. I put a full bowl down every morning and she just goes over to it whenever she feels like eating a little.
I never pick the bowl up and she's free to eat whenever. I also give her an egg every night. Every now and again I'll give her a piece of a banana or
some blueberries.
She's ridiculously regular. She goes about 10 minutes after waking up and then at around 8:00PM. You can set a watch to her movements ;) |

Nutrience Junior
Small Puppy Breed My Tristan gets 1/2 cup twice a day, sometimes 3x. And treats in between. He's so healthy and muscle-y! I don't wanna talk about poop anymore. |

Purina One weight control for small dogs. I tried another food because I got it for free a couple months ago and my younger dog threw up all weekend, so
we'll never change. Half a cup twice a day and they finish that in two point three seconds.
No treats either. |

My dog ate purina healthy weight for years until she lost her taste for it then I switched to beneful. She eats a cup a day and loves it. She is over 15 years
old and healthy, so it suits her.

If you have a Tail Blazers store in your city (not sure if this store is in the US), most brands there are very good. They have a great selection of dry,
canned, and raw food and are all holistic. They also carry holistic, quality treats, supplements, toys, and other goodies.
I would highly, highly suggest talking to a dog naturopath (even just once) to discuss your dog food brand and what possible supplements you may need to add to it (if you need to) that will help your dogs individual needs. As good as some dog food brands are, they are still very general and if your dog has specific needs (as most dogs do), you might need a little extra something. http://www.tailblazerspets.com/

I worked at PetSmart this summer and was amazed by how many varieties of crap food/treats there are for dogs and cats. Does anyone really buy this dog gravy
shit?
It's supposed to make dry food delicious for those finicky eaters. I can only picture nasty soggy smelly mush. |

SB has some chicken strips, which are his favorite treat (basically chicken jerky). He gets a fresh breath/dental treat most days to keep his teeths nice and
healthy.
He has a few other treats that he gets on special occasions, and training treats to make him to things he is supposed to. |

Big Otto eats Canidae All Life Stages. 1.5 cups, twice a day.
California Natural dog biscuits. I go to a locally owned Feed Store to purchase it. Ears, coat, and feet are all very happy since we switched. And the poops are not ginormous anymore either. |

My precious baby eats dry Science Diet Light, with a dollop of Science Diet Light wet stuff on top so that it appeals to her.
She also begs for table scraps and usually wins. |

Willow gets real food - either chicken or fish, a few tablespoons of yogurt, a boiled egg, alfalfa sprouts, a tablespoon of cod liver oil, one clove minced
garlic, and an ounce of chopped carrots. She also gets two scoops of Royal Canin German Shepherd kibble added to her meal - no byproducts, it's formulated
for the GSD's surprisingly delicate digestive system, and it's preserved with natural preservatives, not chemical preservatives.
Her treats are all natural and baked at the breeder - occasionally we'll run out of those and then she gets the all-natural Old Mother Hubbard peanut butter or bacon-flavored treats. For those of you who tried to switch to a better brand of dog food, only to have your dog barf it up - I'm guessing that's because you switched in one fell swoop. You can't just switch brands wholesale like that without upsetting your dog's stomach. You have to slowly mix the new food in until you reach a point where you've completely replaced the old food - only then can you evaluate the impact of the new food on your dog's health. |

We switched last night from Beneful to Blue Buffalo for Puppies. He loved it!
Winston slept until 6:00 this morning instead of 4:30 - 5 like he usually does! YaY! We are mixing in the Beneful with the new stuff.. and the poops are just a bit runny. |

Thats awesome Dharmit. To help with the runny poop - put in a spoonful of canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling). It will help firm things up and they love
pumpkin.
