It's the term 'mavericks' that does it for me. Like nails on chalkboard.

Drudge Report says she said "maverick" six times. 90 minutes divided by 6 mavericks... 6 gozinta 9... a maverick every 15 minutes.

So have any of the media mentioned Biden's momentary choke-up when he was talking about the time when he worried that his son might not make it? I actually
felt for him.

If I was Biden; I would have run over &
stolen her notes... SHORTEST DEBATE EVER! Oh...yeah. Biden choking up was the emotional highlight. That and Palin saying "doggone it". |

Cleofuss wrote:http://www.huffingtonpost...leah-mcelrath-renna/joes-*#$++-the-political_b_131460.html Joe Biden did more for the equality of the sexes with his honest display of paternal emotion during the vice presidential debate than Sarah Palin's presence on the executive ticket has or will ever do. Biden visibly teared up when he rebutted the idea that "just because I am a man" he didn't understand what it was like to wonder whether or not a child would "make it" in recovering from a life-threatening medical situation. At the time, he was likely recalling the tragic automobile accident that killed his wife and daughter and severely injured his two sons. It was an authentic, moving and powerful moment. It was, in fact, the strongest expression of real paternal love we have seen from a public official in recent memory and maybe ever. By bringing that reality to a national political stage, Biden demonstrated that -- for all of us, not just feminists -- the personal is political, that women alone do not have the sole responsibility for caring about the future of our children and that the concern of fathers is a largely untapped pool of political energy. In his acceptance speech, Barack Obama paved the way for this when he talked about fighting for equal pay for equal work because he wants "my daughters to have the same opportunities as your sons" -- and said this while looking with protective ferocity straight into the camera. He has continued this message on the campaign trail with great impact. Political equality for women will not come from the minimization or idealization of motherhood -- but rather from recognizing fatherhood as a significant factor in our culture and politics. Thank you, Joe, for bringing us to the next level and keeping it real. |

If you go strictly by who debated the best, as a debater, well of course Biden won. He's a three decade Senator who has been programmed to speak on any
issue ad nauseum. That's what they do. "Senator, you have the floor for 2 hours. Please talk about the benefits of wooden arrows for kids."
Two hours later "...and that is why we must give special consideration for early child wooden arrow funding. Thank you madam Chairman. Could I please ask for extra time to address the tips of the wooden arrows." Here is why Palin won. She held her own with someone whose sole occupation for the last 30+ years has been endless debate. Debate is not her forte. It also comes down to what was said. Her words were more appealing in how she said it and what she said. If you are liberal, Biden won, no matter what. But her words appealed more towards conservatives, and it helped define what McCain's vision is. She didn't have to smack Biden down. She held her own on a national stage against a career Washington politician who was supposed to wipe the floor with her, and that's all she needed to do. |

I was so disappointed that she didn't attack more. The Dems are knee deep in Fannie Mae doodoo and Obama's energy policy is out of touch with what
most Americans who don't accept money from environmental nutgroups believe. These were huge targets for her but her strategy was to look
"bipartisan."

Did the recent Senate bailout bill include Harry Reid's insertation of the extended ban on shale oil in the West? I meant to check for that.

So far the debates have been way to tame. I want someone to take the gloves off and kick ass in the next one.

the dumbing of america continues. so now palin "won" and was a huge success strictly based on the notion that she did not make a complete ass out
herself? amazing.

I suppose winking, dropping g's, padding your sentences with "gosh golly gee darn" equates to passing a job interview with flying colors for some, but it really shouldn't, at least not in a culture when being knowledgeable about your job used to actually mean something. |
