Costco also has an amazing return policy. I swear we returned a year old stereo there.

Heh...this could go on all day. The 4th worse thing? Price checks. People stare at you like its your fault. Then the employee has to search through half a
football field of bulk items for the item you want.

I take your point, but I'm working the election and they can't do direct deposit without a voided cheque. Then there's some elderly people like my mom, who refuses to learn anything new. She still has a bank passbook. |

You have to have money to save money at Costco. If you use Amex and the higher price Costco card, you save even more.
Tip : pay the amex off before interest charges start. |

Remington Steele wrote:10 years ago I know Cash registers could take your check, scan the info on it into the system and debit your account like a check card would, so older people could just carry a check around, and not fill it out, or just write void across it and leave the numbers ok. Also if I can pay bills online using just a routing number and checking account number then I don't see why a Voided check is still needed. |

Yeah, I don't get the voided cheque thing either.
That scanning business would make my mom even more paranoid than she already is. She even refuses to use ATMs. |

My dad won't use an ATM to make a deposit, but he'll use one to check his account. So he goes to the teller and makes a deposit, then walks over to the
ATM to check his balance.

BuffaloBill wrote:That is our modus operandi. 'Course we use the AmEx to pay for pretty much anything at all. Then pay the whole thing off when the bill comes. We're up to about 40,000 points and have only had the card for 6 months. |

Check writing for anything but bills should be outlawed.

Mom took the youngest grandchild to Sam's club last weekend. Little one promptly gorged herself on samples and insists that the name of the place is
Samples Club.
If you use Neutrogena Rainbath as your shower gel you will save money. Even with the $35 per year charge you will come out ahead just on that. |

Now you see, I'm just the opposite. I used to live way the hell out in the bush so I would totally stock up on everything and put all kinds of things in
the freezer, kept a loaded supply room almost like the BB food storage room. Now that I live near a grocery store I just love buying sweet eff all to stock up.
All that stocking is a lot of advanced spending. I don't get anything that will take longer than a week to use up. And that's the way I LIKE it!

I joined Sam's Club last December. They sent me a statement of what they thought I had saved. It was over $400 in nine months. I don't buy much food
there since it is just me and my youngest daughter at home, but OTC medications, vitamins, shampoo, soap, etc., really add up.
