Now, now, we shall not begin any speculating on who is lower than Chap. Even the lowest of the low are good contributors and some of the best edgicians. I
started the tabulation just to make a quick check before each tally to see if anyone was just way out in left field and to my surprise only had a couple that
struggled to stay in the mainstream realm...but was also glad to see a few who were always consistently in the top. We all have talents, some do well on
story, speculation, stats, winner predictions, and others on ratings.

Nothing crazy there. If for no other reason, I can't be very high, as I don't follow Warrior's V chart, as I prefer deciding V for myself, that
alone would keep me from ever being very high since most (rightly) follow it, and a couple of weekly differences would push me down the list. I'm weird
that way. But no great shakes.
I am ready for the premiere. I am coming off a high of having my three year old hug me and whisper, "I'm glad you're my daddy" and finding out when she drew a picture of her family for pre-school, she drew herself and her brother in mommy's house, and me in my car driving to see her. I was worried about being a long distance dad, and last weekend lightened my load and I am in a great frame of mind to watch tonight. Here's to a good season, all. I think I'm out until after the premiere airs. Be ready. Michael

So it's okay for anyone to do edgic right? I would like to do it this season and I'm not spoiled....I don't even think there are spoilers.

Yes, anyone can do it. They just don't like people who read spoilers to do it, for a number of reasons.
That's so sweet, OTH! Glad you had a nice visit. |

Glad to hear that, OTH. =) Sometimes I think we in here take everything too seriously and we need to lighten up and start having fun in here again. That was my
goal when I first started posting here in Fiji. I'm sick and I've been doing homework all week, Survivor is an escape for me and I'm really pumped
for it tonight. Let's all remember why we're really here!

Of course, I read spoilers last season - that's why I just read the thread. But I definitely want to participate this season. I think my analysis is
going to be way off.

I definitely have read this thread back and forth during season 16. I just feel like I'm going to label someone an UTR2 when they were like an INV - or a
CP5 when they were a MORN3. Give me some time though, I'm a fast learner.

I think I should just break all the ties. Since I'm partly responsible for Fiji Stacy's NN, and everyone agrees with that! |

I think I should break all the ties then, since I'm responsible for Cassie being on the Contenders list at the end
of Fiji.

I think I should break all the ties, because....ummm.....give me a few minutes. I'll get back to you.

The 5-member panel, trying to come to some sort of consensus through pm's and emails is a logistical nightmare. It would frustrate everybody, especially the 5 who are reading and pm'ing and waiting for responses, etc. Most importantly, there would never be enough time to reach a conclusion. Not that it matters anymore with what's already been decided, but since when have watchdogs PMed and emailed each other to discuss close calls, haven't we always posted our thoughts on it and voted in public? As for the current system, personally I think it's just stupid to have one or two watchdogs decide everything. I mean just because something barely got a majority of the votes doesn't mean it's the right choice. I mean there's been countless times when the people say about close calls, or choices that get a majority of votes "why do so many people think this person was CP, this person was clearly OTT, read the guidelines people", or something like that. Tone is another good example of where the majority isn't always right, a lot of people seem to be giving out static neutrals too often when there is tone lately (I mentioned this in the other thread), giving static neutral the majority. Besides that, sometimes there's episodes where you watch it the first time and go "[name] was clearly CPP", and then later on a lot of good strong arguments for that person really being OTTP come out, after a bunch of edgicers have already voted, causing the early voters to heavily go one way, while the later voters heavily go another way. Basically what I'm trying to say here is the majority isn't always right, and just because someone voted one doesn't mean that they still stand by that decision by the time that close calls are debated. We should have more then one watchdog making all of the decisions. |

Only 1 hour to go! Yippee! OTH, glad you had such a great weekend. My almost-4-year-old told me I was her best friend the other day. Of course, her other
friends are all stuffed, so I shouldn't think too highly of myself, but it still felt good! Sorry I wasn't around much during hiatus. My work blocked
yuku, so my normal early-morning surfing was curtailed. I'll try to pop in with my $.02 ever now and again.

wallduck: This is what we are basically doing at this point. There is no tie for me to break. I could only serve to override a watchdog, which seems pretty far-fetched. I will only vote when, for some reason, a Vis, Tone, or Rating WD cannot for that week. The twinned watchdog idea would re-establish the old vote balance, but we have no time this week to create it. It'll have to wait until after tonight. |

Oo: Precisely. MDN: Pm, email, or open posting in the thread, a panel of 5 would be a lot of posting and then someone (me?) would occasionally ask for consensus or a vote. It would be a pain, especially on weeks with multiple ties and lots of opinions. But, cutting it down to one opinion (the V, T, or, R watchdog) not only limits opinion, but puts that watchdog in an unpleasant spot. None of the present WDs, (and I am sure of this), want to power-trip the group. We'll continue to discuss. |
