Next week looks awesome if they do go the way the preview looked to be. I have been waiting for Peggy's child to come back into play.

I was wondering that. I also thought it might be to contrast Don's new secretary. Joan being the aging old ways, letting go and getting old, and then you
have the thin new way coming to power.

One of the saddest moments was watching Betty the morning after the confrontation... still in her party dress, fallen strap and messy hair. She's sitting
at the kitchen table, the children are having breakfast and she's smoking a cigarette with a pained, lost look in her eye. She's completely losing it
and Don just stands there and looks at her.

Harry has lost all control in his life, everyone around him spites him, he is lied to, abused, taken advantage of by his friends, wife, and boss. Harry is a man without respect. Don isn't honest because Don needs that respect. As for Betty she wants Don to lie to her, she wants Don to be the man stop having a midlife crisis and wants respect from him. This is a show about duality of the characters and difficult decisions that they make. |

Otch wrote:I think it does. I know people are speculating whether she could be pregnant, but if she were pregnant, she would be married to her doctor boyfriend by now. That's what people did in the early '60s. I think they are emphasizing her curvaceousness in order to contrast her look with the look that we see now. Big heads on skinny bodies. Or the look we know is coming in the late '60s. Twiggy style waifs with flat chests. Joan is in huge contrast to that. And she's going to be out of fashion in a few years. |

hummm...
what would be the point of joan being pregnant from a story point of view for mad men? put on your "weiner" caps on here for a minute. joan has just been presented with the greatest opportunity of her life. the television "script reader" or whatever they called that job. joan was absolutely the best fit for that job. denied. for all of the "she's just a chick" and "she's about to get married and will be leaving us soon anyway to raise babys" reasons i have heard. joan and this doctor are obviously not "it" as a couple. no way. no how. so where is weiner going with this? once again i have to ask the female posters to enlighten me on what the fuck is going on here. mad men is a show that only chicks can truly understand? why is that? |

I can only understand it because you people explain it to me. But then again, I am the type of person who got through college on Cliffs Notes.

Hardly a stalker, and barely care -- I've just read some of your posts, and when the eye rolling commenced, made the comment. There you go, a novel in

in the convo that joan had with dr. hubby, he said he wished she would stay home and act on her cravings. if joan is preggo, she is as good as dead at
sterling cooper.

Yeah, by the way, who sang that song at the end? Was it Peter, Paul & Mary?

Yes, they faded to the original Peter, Paul, & Mary version
of "Early in the Morning" at the end. It must be so much fun to get to pick the music and how it gets used.
