If you remove Calvin from the strips it looks like his parents are talking to a stuffed tiger as though they lost their child years ago and are severely
traumatized by it.

Calvin & Hobbes, The Far Side. Both works of brilliance. We can only hope Bloom County/Opus gets collected the same way.

Antithesys wrote:Interesting, but there's nothing in Bill Watterson's biography to suggest he lost a child. His strip, I believe, is mostly autobiographical. It's more about a precocious seven-year-old with an over active imagination. Here are three more:
More tomorrow. I can't wait to post more on Calvin and Susie, or post about the transmogrifier, Rosalyn the baby-sitter, Calvin in school, and many more. |

I always adored the Spaceman Spiff strips, frequently they would be on my dorm room door for months.

Calvin and Hobbes is the best. It's the only cartoon series I've bought.
Post more cartoons please! |

Susie: Calvin, what do you have for lunch today?
Calvin: Squid eyeballs...I like to suck out the retinas. Classic. |

I loved the one where Calvin hadn't done his homework and prays for a snow day so he can have extra time to work on it. Magically, it snows and he gets day
off from school. He and Hobbes play all day in the snow, and that night he's in the same boat, praying for more time to get his homework done. I related to
it on every level.
