Not to state the obvious but they seem to get more than parents who have 1 or 2 kids because the producers have a show to make. Producers of any show want their show to be successful and in this case that means getting jon and kate different trips and activiites to do with the kids in order to keep the show entertaining. You just said yourself "that the point of the show is supposed to be that its tought to raise eight kids." These trips/hairplants/surgeries/teeth whitening etc help to illustrate that.

They show whatever happens to them. Whether it be haircuts or trips to Hawaii. The producers would be fools not to get activities for them to do, because with the amount of times they show this show it must get stellar ratings, and Jon & Kate would be fools to turn down all the free trips and shit they get offered. If people are so outraged that they get all this free stuff, the only way it will stop is if the ratings start to suck, so stop watching.

NOW...I have to agree about the hair transplants,teeth whitening,etc being over the top...that is not what most families do,but also I understand why the show does it..but Kate's surgery I can go along with because her skin was stretched beyond belief from the babies and it is very hard to have self esteem when you feel you look aweful.,so I think that was a kind gesture to help her feel better about herself.

Neither involved the producers. And don't most families have hair transplants? My family maybe didn't have eight kid but we were all allowed to get hair transplants and we still got by.

I grew up in a family that always took nice trips growing up - does that make me horrible? I don't think so, maybe more fortunate (and J and K certainly are), but I guarantee a majority of the naysayers would jump on a free family trip in a second if given the chance. Hell, imagine what their lives would be like without any help. They'd be in total hell working their asses for the rest of their lives probably just to help pay their kids' college bills let alone everything else. I remember reading before that Jon got his insurance dumped just cause they didn't want to pay for all the kids - imagine raising a family with that fear hanging over your head. It's a scary thought to me. So good for them, if it were me I'd take the opportunity, too. Anyway, haven't seen an episode of this in a little while with my Olympics obsession. Are they in reruns now or new episodes still? Contrary to what seems to be some people think of this show, I can ENJOY it for what it is without going crazy analyzing it and bashing the family.

She said the family was in NC for two weeks. The first week the camera crew was there, the second week they were not. I'm tired of seeing Kate interviewed and her doing an impression of one of the kids "I wuv you mommy" I'd rather see the kid say it NOT KATE! If you don't have it on film then move on. I don't think it's an accident that Kate has no relationship with her side of the family. Funny how she shows her wedding video and every face is practically pixalated out. She has an annoying, grating, selfish attitude that comes across on camera.

Kate is the head of the house and will always be heavily featured on the show, if people hate her to the point they say they hate her and can't deal with it, the only solution is to not watch the show. A show of just the kids with no narration from the parents would be an absolutely awful show. Then again, I like Kate and find her to be an interesting TV character and feel she isnt half as bad as people make her out to be. Would I want to deal with her on an everyday basis? No, but as far as watching her on TV she makes me laugh.
