I'm going to make ONE more political comment and then give the whole thing a long rest. McCain apparently picked Palin for VP after they had met ONCE.
He'd been running for president for a year and a half, sewed up the nomination almost 6 months ago, and then picks a person for vice president who he's
met ONCE?? Ilovegreeneyes is right, as usual. He's a reckless moron.

ILGE thanks for your comments about McCain and his sorry excuse for a running mate, I couldn't agree with you more on this subject. God help us if they
get elected and god help the environment, Womens rights and so on and so forth. I do not believe for a minute that Carrie is going to perform at this
convention, I think the media once again has their facts fucked up, Brett James who co-wrote JTTW is performing and I think because they saw Carries name they
just assumed that she was, its pathetic the lack of professionalism and whatnot that the fricken media has anymore. And as far as Michael Phelps goes, I
don't believe that story at all, Great Swimmer yes, Good looking guy hell no!!!! what a waste of a beautiful woman to be stuck with this freak, this guy
has the most jacked up grill I have seen. I'm sure Carrie has never even talked to this dude and is laughing about this stupid rumor. Carrie is known to
like the pretty boys and this boy is far from pretty.

Why must we talk about politics in Carrie's thread?

Another Million-Seller
Carrie Underwood's latest award has
a nice ring to it. With the ringtone for her first single, 'Jesus Take the Wheel,' reaching sales of one million, the superstar becomes the first
country artist to earn two Platinum Mastertone certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America.
Underwood became only the second country artist in history to have a song certified as a Platinum Mastertone when 'Before He Cheats,' also from her debut album, reached sales of one million ringtones in June 2007. The first country artist to earn a Platinum Mastertone, by the way, was Waylon Jennings, whose 'Theme from Dukes of Hazzard' was certified platinum in March 2007.Big & Rich's 'Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy' and Gretchen Wilson's 'Redneck Woman' have also achieved Platinum Mastertone status. |

$10 Million Woman: Palin a Hit with GOP DonorsMcCain Campaign Raises Over $10 Million Since Palin Tapped as Running MateThe McCain campaign raised more than $10 million in the two and a half days after Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was named as the vice presidential running mate, bringing the total raised in the month of August to more than $47 million, campaign officials tell ABC News. The final, official figures are expected to be reported in the next few days, but the amount appears to be a record for the McCain campaign, almost twice as much as it has raised in any other single month."We're still counting," said campaign spokesman Brian Rogers. |

Rove: Palin Will Boost GOP Ticket By 3-4 Points Nationally
ST. PAUL -- Former White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove predicted that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin "gives [John McCain] the ability to add 3 or 4 points nationally" to his vote total, a margin that could make a significant difference in what is expected to be a very close general election contest with Barack Obama. Those points , according to Rove, who sat for an extended interview with The Fix and Newsweek executive editor Jon Meacham as part of the ongoing live web video coverage, will largely come from women but could also be the result of gains among blue collar, older men who "like the idea of a gun-toting woman." Rove also argued that Democrats have already "over played" their hand on Palin by putting out a statement -- from the Obama campaign -- that cast her as an inexperienced, small town mayor. (Obama distanced himself from that statement and has been entirely praiseworthy of the governor in his comments since then.) "They run a real risk of looking condescending," warned Rove. "The same crowd played these cards against Clinton and it was a mistake." Rove cast each of the vice presidential picks this year as "not a governing decision but a campaign decision." He added: "Both of them principally said I'm going to get someone that I think, in the case of Obama covers my weakness, and in the case of McCain, plays to his strength. And both of them said I'm going to do something because I need to do something politically. It's Obama part to shore up working class Catholics and it's McCain part to make inroads among soft Republicans and those Hillary supporters -- male or female -- that can be gotten by somebody who's a gun-toting, hockey-playing woman." Of Obama's acceptance speech, Rove said he thought it was underwhelming given the venue. (A perspective shared by Post columnist David Broder.) "I think that this was a speech that was not worthy of the venue, and an eminently memorable venue with an eminently forgettable speech," said Rove.

So only Dems can have music at their conventions without the musician being targetted.........that's what I do not get |

I'm so excited about the Just Stand Up performance this Friday! Pretty cool how it has such fantastic singers, including American Idol and X-Factor's
bests!

I see the past couple pages has turned into a semi-political forum. For the people supporting Palin----what are your thoughts on
her daughter being a pregnant teen mother? I am particulary interested in one post in particular.

I think her daughter made a mistake. Everyone is different though. In the end the choice is theirs.

Kunron wrote: Yea one too many kids are making, aka, Miss Spears who so many teens watch on TV and see in Mags and on TMZ type shows constantly Then it's just so many not using protection and being just too active too early and I mean 13 year olds much less a girl 17. My sister works in Human resources and what she tells me is just .....well, just scary and pretty sad what the kids are doing these days I find it hard to believe but I read that 1/4 of teens are pregnant these days, well, get pregnant. In the old old days like my great granny it would be normal at 14, 15, 16 to be raising a family but we are supposed to be in a more modern age My aunt had 5 kids starting at 16 and she recently passed away but raised a very successful family anyways, this is way off topic but my only point is an artist should be able to perform and not judged. Now if they give a speech that's different and you can take that for whatever you want being your political leaning but........can't they just sing ? |
