This episode was a disappointment for me. Not sure how it advanced the storyline at all. Even the writing seemed off.
I'm also not sure Betty was crying because she was so happy. She was almost unraveling in the car. She may have told Don that she was happy but she is so far from being on equal footing with Don. He just needs her to be an attractive prop. |

go back and watch that last scene between betty and horse boy in the barn. listen to his words. and then watch her shake as she leaves the stables and lights her cigarette. she triumphed there, right? i think that explains why betty cries in the car... |

I thought the best scene was when don came home from the car tryst with the comedian's wife and washed his hands and doused his mouth with about a half
bottle of dishwashing detergent in the kitchen sink.

Do you like the irony of the fact they had to put a parental warning disclaimer at the front of the episode and then in the episode they discussed having to do that with The Defenders? Nice little drive-by with Sal and his Lady in Waiting... |

I loved that he washed the stank off himself.. he knew exactly what he was doing when he fucked her.. he did it metaphorically and figuratively.. brilliant
I also loved Betty's delusions.. I am not sad I am nordic.. her hand was shaking because little pony boy nailed her on the head.. and she decides that that dinner is being in Don'sl life.. right... had she had a fucking clue... poor Betty... she is definitely heading to the Valley of the Dolls. I also loved the look on Peggy's face during the Abortion episode.. Harry had no idea.. but once again Roger is the da man... god I love him.. and with Joan as Don's secretary this should be very interesting. |

yep.
that was all it took. betty wanted don to be a way. he wasn't. now he is. betty wanted don to include her in his life. he didn't. now he does. and now betty cries... betty totally broke tonight.
i don't know where this will go, but betty is on her own now. i think betty is this season. i have nothing to back this up, but i have watched
weiner for long enough that i think i know where he goes from here. we are three weeks in and all hell is breaking loose.
i love this show... |

Everyone has a "tipping point" that marks their need to act... it can be subtle or dramatic. And we have Sal and the chip dude.. "nice to see you" I was surprised he didn't go.. "yes I AM MARRIED" to fend him off... I think a tipping point is in Sal's future as well. |

This didn't seem like a Weiner episode - it was more linear and romantic than usual. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it.
It appears to me that Don is terrified of his wife Betty. Not because of what she might know, or what she can do, but because he loves her more than he should be allowing himself to, and he's losing control of that. A year ago he wouldn't have washed his mouth out with soap - or perhaps Betty came THIS CLOSE to finding out about Don's extracurriculars, and thus Don has vowed to keep it in his pants for a while. He hates Jimmy's wife for seducing him. And Betty. Whoo boy. I am so pleased that they have followed up last year's Betty with this natural progression, and I hope she gets stronger and stronger. She's crying because she's on the edge of losing it, and the dinner date has temporarily brought the "team concept" she's always wanted back into her life and righted the ship. (For now.) Roger: "Plus drinks." (Hands him a drink.).... I know Roger had a lot of fans last year, but this year he is THE Man. We could have done without this particular Harry Crane story, however. And it appears Rachel Menken is not making an appearance this year. (IMDB) Who did Don send that book to, then? |

what exactly do you think the strap tension would be (in st/psi) required to lift joan's humongous rack to the height to make this picture even possible? i'm guessing this is just pure cgi, but then again i've never worn one of those things... some "mad men" fun might be had in guessing here? right? or maybe some thoughts on that last ep? anything? anyone? |
