What an epic opening ceremony. Going into this, I expected China to give an exceptionally memorable show, but it still had be in total awe from beginning to
end. Truly one of the more memorable ceremonies the past few Olympics (winter included). And while its four years away, I highly doubt London can top this.
Great start and I'm really looking forward to the Olympics.

Incredible opening ceremony but the commercials almost killed me. It's been so long since I watched anything live that I forgot how painful it was. Not to
mention that every 10 minutes Grampa Simpson came on my screen to complain that some skinny black guy is more popular than him. But the artistic portion of the
ceremony more than made up for it.

I'm far too much in the Olympic spirit. The BBC website here in the UK has every single event that's happening on, it would appear (although not the
fencing, which is weird since they're showing Brazil/North Korea in football instead). If anybody cares, the winners so far are in the following spoilers:

The opening ceremony was definitely one of the best I've seen. They did a good job. Just tuning in to Volleyball. The US is giving Japan a smackdown.

Wow! Give China all the medals just for that great ceremony!
Hey, who is the midget on the USA Women's Volleyball team? How the hell did she make it? |

I really liked the opening ceremony as well. That will be hard for all future Olympics to top. In watching the parade of nations on NBC, I liked how the
commentators made mention of special requests they had received. The ones I noticed were:
1. Someone from Indonesia who had studied in the US had specifically asked them to explain to the viewers where their country is located. 2. The Cayman Islands (who believed they would enter alphabetically after Canada) specifically asked NBC not to cut to commercial after Canada thereby skipping their entrance. They went to commercial right after the Cayman Islands entered. |

The first day was rather good (well, bad for Team GB since we managed to screw up everything...). The Gymnastics is one to keep an eye out for, not just
because all the guys are hawt as hell (well, most of them), but also because there is some stunning stuff that goes on. Swimming too is very competitive, even
if there are a couple of suspiciously quick swimmers from the home nation (including one guy who does ridiculously well in the Medley, having knocked
12 seconds off his time from Athens...hmmm...)

Michael Phelps has already set a world record, isn't wearing the full skin suit, looks amazing.

Just tuning in to Volleyball. The US is giving Japan a smackdown. I just caught part of that volleyball. The liars at NBC are at it again. A graphic in the upper right part of the screem says "LIVE". Not
"LIVE ET", but "LIVE". Which is a lie. I know that because as I was watching it here in California, it was 10:20 a.m., which is 1:20 a.m.
tomorrow in Beijing. I know that there are no scheduled events in Beijing that would be starting at about 1 o'clock in the morning. Sure enough, I get on
the internet, and see that the match is over, with the US winning 3 games to one, in a best of five.

Epic match between the Misty May wanabees and the underdog Dutch 28th seeds. I was actually rooting for the Dutch at the end, they lost though 27-25.
I for some reason really wanna take up air rifle now. <_< |

I can't wait to see the USA Swim team 2nite in the 400 IM (Go Michael Phelps!!!). The opening ceremonies was BEAUTIFUL <3 <3 <3. I didn't
expect that it would be so AMAZING!!! (It must have taken years to choreograph). I heard on this news program that the Chinese spent $100,000,000 on the
opening and closing ceremonies!!!
