Tada. Half of my recap. Its long and journal-like and probably way too personal for sucks but here it is...
First of all, thank you God. This is all a blessing from You. Sadly, I don't think I have prayed so much in my life. Second, thank you Dreadheads. Without your plan of action the day would've only been half as awesome. I get to my uncle's house Thursday evening. He lives in South County STL. My cousin is working close to STL. She's going with me Friday. Friday morning, my uncle drives us to the Metrolink station. Thank goodness, driving in STL sucks. We take the Metro to Union Station where we are supposed to meet the Jason fans from daydreamingboy.com aka Dreadheads. We're late so as I'm walking toward US the DHs are walking out. Thank goodness for those balloons! Up until them I was nervous about the whole meet up/stalk the buses thing. There was no backing out now. This is 12:45. I have to pee. Bad. We start walking over the parking garage. There are people there already. I think I heard someone say they had been there since 8am. Craziness. They moved us around so much I wonder if she benefited from that. The DHs decide to stand in the parking garage on a ledge/fence thing. Turns out, not a good idea. The booth lady told us to move because cars couldn't get out. Being crazy stalker fans, we don't. Then she threatens to call the cops on us. We move. At least I do. Later, people were back there. More than before. The cops never came. It's 1:45. I still have to pee. I'm giving them until 2:00 and I'm leaving. It was hot and I was still thinking they might not come since they had those days off. Then we see the first tour bus. Screams. The third bus was the guy's. I could see David Cook standing inside. I said out loud, OMG I just saw David Cook! It was a weird feeling to see someone you had only seen in pictures. It was that moment, I realized that I could still function in their presence. I had really wondered. Ok, so I haven't read this before. No one tells you this. I have always thought this whole thing was a sweet, calm, how ya doin, fun time. It's not. Fans are vicious. They push. They are selfish. They want theirs and they are gonna get it. At least that's how StLouis folks acted. I think that attitude really annoyed Jason. I felt kind of ashamed of myself...but not enough to behave. Once all of the buses were in the garage, security puts up the bike racks (as they called them). We wait about 15 minutes. Security tries to tell us 'how its gonna be'. Whatever. First one out is David Cook. Screams. Then Ramiele and Brooke. Then Kristy. Then Jason. I think I have that order right. I'm shaking. It's nuts. I noticed everyone else was shaking too. I could see it when they held their cameras up. My feet were numb from standing on my tippy-toes. I still have to pee. I'm nervous but I manage to move and breathe and speak. Somehow. David Cook. I brought a picture of the top 10 for them to sign. I hand it to him. He signs it. I think I asked for a picture with him. I must have because I have one. Ahhhh!!!! I mentioned fans are pushy and ruthless right? Security kept yelling at us to stop squishing each other and well, they just aren't convincing enough. Sooooo, David asks us to step back and he will make sure he gets to us all. I said thank you David. And he said you're welcome. Ahhh!!!! I just had a mini-convo with David Cook!!! STL fans are something else. Even DC can't get us to straighten up. So he and Jason step back until we do. Now THAT worked. I wrote posted this on Sucks. Just kinda wanna save it. He is entertaining. He is charismatic. He is very take charge yet not intimidating. In fact, he's
the opposite. He seems like he's one of those who would be really easy to talk to. I actually talked to him. It was 3 words but they were words that I said
to David Cook. At the tour bus stalking session, the fans were pushing and basically being pains in the ass. Security had told us to back up and stop squishing
each other but like we listened. So David asked us very nicely to step back and he would make sure he got to us all. He was right in front of me when he said
it and I said thank you David. And he said you're welcome. I was like whoa, did that really happen? But yeah, he's got an awesome personality. He was
no different at that time then he was on the show or at anytime you've seen him. He's a genuinely great guy :)
Jason Castro. I have a bit of panic/disappointment moment because Jason was about to sign my pic when he stepped back with David Cook because we were being bad. He came back though. He said 'where was I?' I gave him my pic and said 'right here' and he repeated me, 'right here'. Ahhh!!! Mini-convo!!! Then I had my picture taken with him. Again, I must've asked for it because I have one. At the moment, I didn't know what part of me touched what part of him. I just remembered thinking 'OMG touching!!!' Later I saw the pic where my left hand is touching his arm. That sounds right. And I smelled him. It's hard to remember a smell. It's hard to describe a smell. It's hard to imagine a smell. But I will try to remember it and describe it so you can try to imagine it. He smelled clean. Like he just got out of the shower. Not a manly smell. Not like cologne. Like soap. But not like any soap I have ever smelled before. Intriguing huh? And for the record, he did not smell like Patchouli. At all. The dreads. I will tell you that pictures do not capture them well no matter their quality or distance. I think they were kinda ugly. They are covered in split ends which make them look rather odd and probably give them the lighter color you see. I love the dreads, don't get me wrong. They are Jason. If it weren't for them I wouldn't know who Jason Castro was. I wrote what DC was like so I will try to do the same for Jason. He is reserved. He's polite. He's giving. He appreciates what he has been given and he is giving back to his fans. He's a little methodic. Like this is what I'm doing and this is how I'm doing it. Over and over. He looked a little bored. But not like I wish I wasn't here bored, more like I wish yall were more fun. And why are you ogling over me? I'm not all that. Humility I guess you would call it. Jason is down to earth and modest. After Jason I was done. It was TMTH. As I shoved my way through, I had asked to get to the front for Jason and then I would move back. I guess I'm just too nice. Doing what I say I'm gonna do and all. The whole let-me-at-em vibe was getting to me anyway. I felt like I was being selfish. There were people in the back who were never gonna get theirs. My biggest regret is that I didn't stay longer. I wanted to meet David Archuleta and I saw in one of my picture that he was out when I left. I didn't even know it. There had to have been an uproar. I guess I was in Jasonland at the time. Besides, I still had to pee. Its 3:00. Back at Union Station. I finally find a potty. Adam Sandler's Longest Pee I swear. Then we eat and drink. I had the best MtDew I have ever had. Ever. I talked to a David Archuleta fan that was a guy. Surprisingly he was really cool. He reminded me of DA actually. They have the same smile/laugh. He was the one who brought the poptarts box for them to sign. Hilarious. A girl he was with had Jason's autograph on her hand. I took a picture of it. I was jealous. I took a picture with my phone of the picture I took on my camera of me and Jason and sent it to people. Did that make sense? Its still my wallpaper and every time I go to make a call I forget who I'm calling and get lost in a daydream. Haha. Killing time at Union Station. I got a Henna tattoo that says Jason Castro and has a guitar. I have always wanted a Henna tattoo and what better excuse to get one so ridiculous than it being the day of a concert. There was a guy working the booth who was especially cool, kinda cute and maybe a tad lit. He asked me what kind of music Jason sang and I told him. He was like 'elevator music?' No. He said he was into skater/ska music. Go figure. Anyways, he was fun to talk to. And incase you don't know what a Henna tattoo is, its temporary. I'm not that psycho. It is a paste that is made of a plant, which stains your skin. You leave it on until it dries and flakes off and you are left with the stain for 2-4 weeks. Mine was a bronze color the day after and then turned a darker brown. Anyways, I get some crazy looks. Its fun. I made a necklace at some kiddy store with beads that spelled JASON. I wore it as a bracelet and I plan on hanging it on my rearview mirror when I find it. Unpacking sucks. At 5:30 we start walking to the ScottTrade Center. I thought it was too early but it was the perfect time really. In line at the gate, I talked to someone who said he had seen a freecreditreport.com commercial and the guy in it reminded him of Jason. I need to youtube that. Gates open. We buy stuff. Outrageous prices. OMG. I'm a sucker. $35 t-shirt, $10 poster, $5 keychain. Food was worse. $5.75 for a bottle of water. WTF? I'll get a drink out of the water fountain thank you. We sit. There is a curtain up on the side of the stage blocking out view. Staff tells me she can't believe the sold the seats I had. I wig out. I'm ready to snap. I want to talk to someone important NOW. Later, she tells us the curtain comes down. Eventually, the curtain is covering the whole stage so I feel better. Also, there are lots of empty seats...closer. The guy tells me the show didn't sell out so we could sit wherever we wanted. The seats stay empty. We move. Not far, just a little over and a little down. Turns out this area is AWESOME because it's right by the walkway that goes out to the left of the stage. More on the awesomeness of it later. We get some hot dogs and a soda. Worst hot dog I have ever had. Some people may like their hot dogs to snap when you bite them. Not me. Oh well, I ate in like 10 seconds anyway. I just wanted fuel. 7:00 Concert starts. Cliffhanger!!!!! |

OMG, that holy OMG Indy pic of Jason! So cute!
Great recap, Curve! Very entertaining! Looking forward to the next part. Nice pics on your photobucket too. Had a great time in Cincy last night. Didn't get home till after 1:00 am thanks to nighttime construction on I-75! I'll post my report tomorrow. The important part is... got a pic with Jason!!! After the concert, my daughter and I waited for the Idols and got a few of them - mostly autographs, but more of that tomorrow. Curve, you will feel better if I decide to post my photo with Jason and my daughter. Probably one of the worst pics of me ever, LOL. Wide angle is certainly no one's friend... except Jason of course. My daughter was so excited because she got to be in a photo with Archie!!! My concert pics aren't very good, haven't uploaded them yet but they don't look good on the camera LCD. Seats were decent but not for our cameras. Mine had trouble autofocusing. Did two complete song videos of Archie for my daughter though, so I might upload them and post the link if any of you are interested. Probably should put it in the Archie thread. Got one of Cookie singing Time of My Life too. Didn't do any of Jason because there are better ones on youtube anyway. So Curve, tell us more! Mine won't be as long, probably just highlights, since there's not as much to tell! |

Curve, where did that interview article come from? Interesting.
Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you guys that I did end up getting a MySpace about a month ago, which I never thought I would! So now I'm "friends" with Jason, both Davids (had to do Archie for my daughter!), Carly, Michael and Brooke. Added on a few other bands/singers I like. I only have two "regular" non music related people on my friend list, LOL. Got bombarded with friend requests from people wanting me to listen to their music, which was a good idea since I found some new music I like. Been busy today so I haven't had time to report on the concert but I do have my photos on my pc. Now I just need to get them on photobucket, later today or tomorrow. So where's the next part of your report, Curve? :-) |

I'm friends with Jason of course, the Davids, Brooke, Carly, Syesha and Danny. I think I'm still friends with Robbie but I need to remove him. I need
to look for all of the top 10. Add that to the long list of crap I need to do as I sit here. I seriously have a running computer to-do list.
I saw that interview on Castrocopia. All you Jason fans out there, if you don't know about Castrocopia, you are missing out. GO THERE. Here's the link to the article... http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080724/ENT04/80725008/1039 Oh, the next part of my recap is coming. I have nothing much to do this weekend so if I don't have it done by Sunday night you can yell at me. |

Some brilliance from Mr. Jason Castro. The things he says about being famous, especially the part about 'if you want to do music you have to do this',
I really felt that from him. I tried to say that in my recap. He said it better.

Who Made Who 2 |

"Look at the sun," he says, pointing west. "It's setting."
The part where no one else looked made me sad.

I must confess... I'm not that big of a Jason Castro fan... in fact, he's kinda 'meh' to me
But today, he was one of six idols who came out to the pre-show autograph signing, and he was really nice and took the time to give autographs to everyone and take photos with those who wanted them. I didn't get any photos or autographs from him, because there were some die-hard Jason fans behind us who begged us for our spots and they'd return them after... I do have some paparazzi photos of him though... And Jason cashed in on gift bags full of Canadian stuff, a hat and a ukelele... |

die-hard Jason fans behind us who begged us for our spots and they'd return them afterI did that Recap Part 2... I think Poptarts hired the most obnoxious emcee guy they could find. Or maybe I just wanted him to shut up and get on with the show. Yeah. Chikezie. He did a good job representin'. He owned the stage. You could tell he was comfortable up there. He should've picked better known songs. I don't even remember what he sang. He mentioned going clubbing in STL. I wonder how the idols can go out and not get mauled. However, evidently STL knows how to PARTY. Screams. Ramiele. I hear someone say 'aw, look how tiny she is' like she's an infant or a kitten. I really liked the songs she did. If I Never See Your Face Again, Love Will Lead You Back, I Want You Back. She was actually one of my favorites because of the songs she chose. It's all about song choice!! When she came over to the walkway, I touched her hand. You can tell a lot by the way they touch your hand. Hers was gentle, soft and long. Very sweet.
Michael Johns. He DID NOT belong at the beginning of this concert. What is wrong with you America? He sang Champions/Rock You, It's All Wrong, and Dream On. I tried to stomp/clap to the first song but concrete doesn't make much noise. It just made my booty jiggle. He said something funny (go figure) but I can't remember what it was. He came to the walkway also. His hands were sweaty and strong.
Kristy Lee Cook. I hate to say bad things but this girl turned me off to her. From the time she swaggered up the ramp in the parking garage until she stepped off the stage. She was pretty high on her horse. Haha. I didn't mind her on the show when she was perpetually in the bottom three but now she must think she's a BAMF for getting a record deal. I don't know, maybe she was just trying to be sassy. I touched her hand too. I got a sassy swat. God Bless the USA was good but not because of her…it's just a good song. Then she sang 2 country songs that pretty much sounded the same. Not good. I wish she'd sung Forever. Carly. I liked the Evanescence song she sang mostly because I just like the song. She looked like she was humping the mike stand. It was disturbing. I didn't like her much on the show and I didn't really like her live. I love her as a person but I'm just not into her music. She also sang Crazy On You and I Drove All Night. Brooke. How sweet is Brooke? She gets lifted up from under the stage and she's playing the piano. She sang Let It Be. It was breathtaking. I hope she can put it on her album. It's just so 'her'. She's barefoot. Cute. She sings 1234 with the guitar and Yellow on the piano again. Her set was another of my favorites just because she really let you know who Brooke White is. She made me want to see her in a smaller setting. The bottom 6 come out to sing Pride and plug Idol Gives Back. I hear Jason sleeps during the beginning of the concert. He's got to be the calmest person ever. I bet this is his wake up call. Intermission. More annoying emcee guy and the Poptarts mascot. Lots of product placement. I wasn't gonna go to the bathroom because I didn't want to miss anything. After a few minutes, I figured I was pretty safe. Guitar Hero commercial featuring the idols. Jason on drums!!! Every time Archie appears on the screen the place goes nuts. Jason. I wish I had more of a voice left. I wanted to yell his name but all I could do was yell. The crowd was so loud it wouldn't have mattered anyway. Why does he have to wear such awful shoes anyway? I have to say he did not sing well. His voice sounded off. Like it was too high. Oh well, I still loved EVERY SECOND. Over the Rainbow was great. I just recently have gotten to where I like that song and hearing it live put me over the top. Crazy was AWESOME. I love Crazy on Jason. I could listen to him sing it forever. He mentions he went gambling over their 2 days off. He said he had a BLAST even though he didn't win or lose anything. I think he said it was his first gambling experience. You have to be 21 right? Again, how does he not get mauled? Daydream was last. Daydream was the first song Jason sang on the show and I've been hooked ever since. Like many Jason fans, he had me at Daydream. Although, his voice wasn't the best that night it was still the BEST THING EVER to get to hear him sing live. Syesha. The girl I went with didn't watch American Idol. I just drug her with me. She was my photographer by that time. I was having too much fun to take pictures. Anyways, she said she like Syesha the best. I guess that explains why she was third. She sang Umbrella. I liked it but I don't remember what her other songs were. I think I was still reeling after Jason. David Archuleta. When he came out, or came up I should say, the crowd was so loud the air became harder to breathe. You could FEEL the noise. To be continued… |
