10. Flygon (Dragon/Ground)

And the last Dragon on this list comes in at a respectable tenth place. Flygon was the first new type of Dragon we saw in the game, and despite still being four times weak to Ice, Flygon actually worked fairly well in terms of what it was. A mixture of a Dragon and a Bug of some sort, Flyong had a great design and it has been quit useful to me in combat. It's one of the few good things to come out of that godawful desert.


9. Lairon (Steel/Rock)

To answer the earlier question about why Lairon outlasted Aggron, the answer is simple. It's basically the same reason that I ranked Rhyhorn over Rhydon. In fact, it's the exact same reason, since Lairon/Aggron are just Rhyhorn/Rhydon clones. I just found Lairon to be cuter. In fact, back when RSE came out, one of the old message boards I went to had this game where we were assigned 6 pokemon at random from the new game and we had to make them into a functioning team. Lairon was one of my team and I loved him so much, especially when they were drawing pictures of the team and my trainer was seated on the back of Lairon. It was such a cute picture and I wish I could find it now.


8. Mightyena (Dark)

In terms of furries, I would have to say that Mightyena makes the hottest anthro of RSE, both male and female. However, unlike with RBY and GSC, I can't in good conscience rank Mightyena highest on the list because of how badly it performed in battle. Cuteness may be enough to bring it into the top 10, but it's gotta have something else to back it up, like Espeon and Ninetales did if it wants to be number one. It seems to have improved in DP with the fixing of the attack/special attack system, but I'm not sure about that as I never trained one in DP.


7. Torchic (Fire)

And the Fire chicken starter winds up at lucky number seven. Torchic is easily my favorite starter of all time. Sure, Bulbasaur ranks higher on my RBY list, but that's purely due to sentimentla value. Torchic is my all-time favorite. Honestly, while I can switch from Bulbasaur to Charmander or Cyndaquil to Totodile to Chikorita, I have no honest reason to ever choose a different starter than Torchic. Mudkip and Treecko just don't compare. Torchic is adorable in the anime and I'm happy that it got May as its trainer. One last thing, Torchic was the first time I ever got a female starter, and it's also the only time I've done so on the first try.


6. Milotic (Water)

And the last Water-type on the list makes it farther than any Water-type in the previous two lists. Milotic is great. While Gyarados is fiercesome and frightening and represents attack, Milotic is beautiful and elegant and represents special attack. Milotic is a staple of pretty much any solo Water team because of her high special defense, which makes her good for facing Grass and Electric-type Pokemon. She's also got a pretty unique way of evolving, via extreme beauty, which fits what Milotic is. But still, she's just not good enough for me to want to put her in my top five.
