In either case, even their admission afterward was far from whining about "PIMPING!" or "FAVORITISM!" that, yes, has appeared on plenty of pages.

I have enjoyed almost everything that those two couples have done. I wasn't on the mark and chelsie bandwagon the first week but I have loved them ever since.

Posts: 4219 (07/24/08 3:42 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Honestly, I think a lot of the over the top gushing over routines is for the sole fact that...well, there HAVEN'T been (sans a few) any routines this season that have been absolutely outstanding, so they need to go overboard with the praise to almost make it so that this season isn't a complete dud. The season is the equivalent to season 5 of American Idol. There are a lot of good solid people that have a shot at winning, but there aren't 2-4 fantastic people. I know a lot of people would rather it be AI5 esque, but I think it's rather boring. Before the top 10, the bottom 3 was so damn predictable. It didn't matter what some couples did because Katee/Josh, Chelsie/Mark (both rightfully), and Kherington/Twitch (unrightfully) were never going to be bottom 3, and if they were, they'd easily be saved. It also became evident that Courtney/Gev were really popular and that Will was adored by the judges. That didn't leave a lot of a room for the other 10 dancers to emerge and even if they did, they would have still been bottom 3 and yelled at by the judges because they weren't connecting with America. When in essence, it's because Nigel fucking stacked the couples this year. Now that it's top 10/top 8 and we are down to all the dancers that were zomg so amazing (minus Comfort) they just scapegoat one guy and one girl every week and it's not even exciting anymore. I really prefferred season 2 where there were clear front runners Benji/Donyelle/Allison etc. and other people emerged (Travis/Heidi/Ivan) later on and where early favorites (Martha/Musa) kind of fell. It was more unpredictable than this shit.

I think this was a progression for several weeks since the beginning of the show, which you are free to check the thread for if it matters that much, though I wholly admit I may not have been explicit about it (may have said one week I love Will and then the next said, I think the judges are full of crap about it being Jessica's fault that ...). You make a fair (and somewhat obvious) point that people usually complain about pimping when it isn't their favorite being pimped. But that makes sense, no? Pimping is in the eye of the beholder. If I was loving Will into delusional levels (like fans are apt to do), I'd feel all his commentary was fair and deserved, only sometimes noting it may be too much (and rarely at that because why would I want to feel like the judges sort of forced the feelings?). Lucky for me, I merely liked Will a lot but not enough to ignore how much the judges blamed Jessica for their collective shortcomings. Last Edited By: loveski 07/24/08 3:54 PM. Edited 1 times.

He didn't dance. He was used as brawn to lift that hideous troll up over his head. She didn't dance so much as flail about like a marionette missing a few strings. It was repugnant and ridiculous. Do not get me started on Toni and her 'street' bullshit. I ended up putting a lot of the show on mute because of the garbage the judges where spewing.

But I don't think I whine about extra praise that Will or Twitch or any other overpimped person gets, either. I simply critique their work and say where and why I disagree with the judges. I think my analysis of Joshua's overpimped disco performance, despite the fact that I never used the word "overpimped", was on par with the kind of things I've said about Will and Twitch...

This season sucks so bad I am just now watching this week's episode, and it's gotten to the point that I fast-forward through all judges comments, all the rehearsals, and all solos. All I watch is the dances and those are wearing thin as well. I don't even stop to listen to Cat. Next week I probably won't even DVR it. It's BORING. They need to cut it down to 1 hour.

I don't think this season and that season are comparable at all, for one, i'd agree that everyone was "good" in that season of AI, but yeah, not necessarily great. However, with this season of SYTYCD, the crop of contestants are all "mediocre" somewhat, and maybe ONCE per week, we've gotten a routine that actually rivaled one from last season. Shoot, even when they started doing two dances last season, I don't even think it was two hours long, correct me if i'm wrong.

A few talented people but mostly just filler. Season 5 just had so much talent in the Top 12 that it would be sort of insulting to AI5 to compare this season of SYTYCD to it.

The level of competition for this show is through the roof compared to the lowered standards of AI.

I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure they didn't start doing two dances so early last season. They pretty much had to have a two hour show when they were cramming 14 dances in there.

At top 10, they did a choreographed solo plus a partner dance . I think it was 2 hours for many, but not all of those weeks but I'm not positive. But I know the show never felt quite as long as it does this season.
