Archery Archery is kinda like shooting, but somewhat more interesting. Shooting arrows > shooting bullets. Still, that's not saying much, and archery is in my bottom quarter of sports. One interesting tidbit: on the women's side, Korea absolutely pwns the rest of the field |

#25 (and last sport in the bottom quarter)
Sailing Because I've always thought of sailing as a pasttime, a recreational activity for rich people, I have trouble accepting it as a sport |

Modern Pentathlon On paper, this sport should be pretty badass, given that it essentially consists of 5 sports put into one : shooting, fencing, running, swimming and equestrian. Someone who is a fast swimmer and runner, a skillful rider, a great fencer and a precise shooter is definitely someone to respect. On second thought, however, who the hell decides to become a pentathlete? Probably not a top swimmer, a top fencer, or a top rider. I mean, this sport has a bit of a "Jack of all trades and master of none" feel to it, which is definitely not cool. It really seems as if they put together a bunch of random, unrelated sports without an unifying common theme (unlike for triathlon, where the common link is endurance) and in the end, no one gives a damn about pentathlon. (Well, I guess in the beginning, these 5 events could be used to determine who could be the best soldier?) |

I'm betting on Gymnastics (Men and Women's) and Swimming to be #1 and #2 on the list. Those are my favorite sports to watch during the Olympics.

Sailing would be boring to watch.

Water-polo Having watched some water-polo competitions live (World Championships a while ago), I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed. A team sport played in a pool sounds pretty badass by itself, but once I settled down in the stands to watch the match (it was Greece vs Hungary or something like that, I think), I was disappointed. The game's pace seemed pretty slow, the players were barely swimming and just seemed to throw the ball around randomly until someone decided to shoot |

Water polo's pretty hilarious on the occasions where they show the under-the-water cams. Apparently the best way to distract your opponent is to grab their
package and start tugging on it furiously.

I like the little stick figure representations of each of the sports. Adds a nice little touch to the list.

Cycling Of the three types of cycling, I find two extremely boring (Mountain biking and road cycling). I do find track cycling moderately interesting and find it nice to watch. The other 2, not at all. |

Wow, these sports all kinda suck, I just want to get to the top 10 now

Basketball I have nothing against basketball and enjoy watching NBA games tremendously. That's the problem though: basketball in the Olympics is kind of a letdown when compared with the basketball you see in the NBA.

Soccer Soccer (or football, whatever you want to call it) is a wonderful sport, but just like for basketball, in the Olympics it's pretty blah. Events like the World Cup and Euro Cup are absolutely amazing, but really, do soccer fans even care about soccer in the Olympics? Random thought here, but Iraq's run in 2004 was really nice. |
