I definetly know the holtels are better there, but defintely not closer. Georgetown exit is one exit north....and well when you have horses there you tend to
want to stay as close as possible and there's no way I was camping.

Yea - thanks!
I wasn't quite sure what "dry" meant - as in zero, nada alcohol or what. We are staying about 5 miles from the horse park, so hopefully just over whatever the "line" is. |

Hey now Roland. Lexington is very beautiful but how do you stand the humidity? Gah -
We did see 2 big, fat ladies pass out from the heat and need the medics. Our kids just like the model horses, but the folks at this event had literally lost their minds. Even the kids were saying they were over the top in their hobby. Because we went to the event, we each got a free special run model that is already going for $130 on Ebay. heh.... |

Living in Kentucky during the summer is like living inside a very large sauna. It's been unusually bad the last few weeks, though.

Ice Cream? I wish! It would have melted into water in about 20 seconds.
So we go to Breyerfest where about 95% of the attendees are these strange, fat, socially lost individuals (and a few were males!). So if you go to this event, you get priviledges to first run and never to be seen again models for way less than they are worth. My friend and I are literally sweating buckets and neither of us is "a large female type". Never ask a question to one of these Breyerfest go'ers about how things work because you get a minimum of a 30 minute discertation as to how they got into the hobby. Only fun part was getting to go to the Kentucky Horse Park events and see the mares/foals, shows, and a trail ride. The real nutjobs were staying at the Holiday Inn in Lexington. They set their hotel rooms up with models, etc. and cover their beds and every freakin' inch of the room with the horse models to sell. The place is packed solid in the hallways with looky-lous. They let hundreds of strangers into their hotel rooms way into the wee hours of the night. Sheesh! At least my friend and I got ripping drunk before we walked over to the insanity. We'd see a crazy person and say they were future Holiday Inn Girls. But then again, we were thinking that maybe we should make this our retirement event and sell all the *^(&*%**&()&* Breyer Horses we've bought the kids over the years. What a great 401K, eh? |

THAT would have been much more entertaining.

Where was the Fest held, Phoofe, out of curiosity? I didn't see lots of fat, scary people walking around downtown (or no more so than usual), so I'm
assuming one of the horse farms/race tracks outside town?

My cousins used to live in a neighborhood called Cherokee Park. I guess you could have gone by there for a bladder inspection by dead uncle's ghost. He was a urologist. |

Roland - the Kentucky Horse Park. The park was way more interesting than the "fest". I guess they kept all the rotund women corraled up on that
side of town.
