#4 Eliza vs Twila & Scout (S9)
"I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog Oscar too."



This bitter rivalry ran from start to finish in Vanuatu, and was the centrepiece of the season since Eliza and Twila got more airtime than Chris or Ami. Ironically, Eliza and Scout were my two pregame faves because they were smart and unique character.

The rivalry started in ep,1 on the hike, and Yasur because a tribe divided by age. "The Bowheads" (as Scout contemptously called the younger girls) wanted Twila out first, while Twout wanted to boot Eliza. But when Dolly refused to vote for Twila and Eliza questioned her loyalty, the swing vote went home. Then Eliza's friend Mia got into a shouting match with Twila, and become the next boot. After the switch, Eliza helped Ami boot Lisa against Scout's wishes. And when Eliza messed up in the pig-catching RC, we heard both Scout and Twila (on the rother tribe at the time) dissing her.

Things escalated postmerge. In the F9 RC, Twout coconut-chopped Eliza out of a RC. At F8 Scout conspired to boot Eliza, but the plot was foiled by Ami. When Ami finally gave in to the Eliza-haters, Twout double-crossed her - a move only possible because Chris had a working relationship with Eliza. The powershift put Chris in Ami's power position because of the hate between the women. Things really got nasty at F5 when the old wiches refused to tell Eliza where they hid the bananas, Eliza cut herself, and the women missed their last chance to boot Chris.

Outcome: The Eliza\Twout rivalry ended in mutual defeat. Chris sided with the oldsters to boot the bigger comp threat. Afterwards Scout expressed relief that there were no more "Eliza noises" to disturb her peace. Chris took Twila to F2 because she was the biggest goat, and hilariously psyched her up not to take any crap from the jury. So when Eliza called her a bitch, she refused to apolgize and said she wanted to spank Eliza. So Chris won even though he'd lied to and blindsided both Eliza and Julie.

Eliza got along with older people very well in S16. Scout has shown she has a chip on her shoulder towards young athletic women in her CBS blogs. The Vanuatu women have reunited at many Survivor events.

#3 Janelle vs Maggie & Ivette (BB6)
"Bye Bye Bitches"



Maggie nominated by Janelle. But the Sovs waste their last chance to get her out.

If I was ranking large alliance rivalries, Sovereigns vs Friendship would be #1. The duration and intenseity of their feud is unmatched by any other two factions. This was a result of the pairs twist, which encoured the formation of 2 solid blocks and the desire to avenge evicted partners.

Some of the early highlights of the rivalry include
* Cappy and Michael (Janie's creepy showmance) almost coming to blows week two
* Kaysar powershift week 3, with the Sovs helping James win veto. "I caught the bigger fish" he said to Maggie. The bossy fireman who was adored by Ivette was bacldoored.
* Maggie beating Janie for HOH week 4 and turning the game around. She founded the Friendship, began the alliance slumber parties in HOH, got Kaysar out, and laid the groundwork for getting James put up by the Sovs.

Maggie was an suburb cult leader. Her allaince was a rag-tag band of weak-minded players who were no match for the Sovs in physical comps. Ivette and April's mutual dislike almost sank the Friendship several times. They also had to deal with America voting Kaysar back in the game. But Maggie keep them together, keep them hating the common enemy, and praticing their own version of Jedi Drilling for HOH comps. Every member of the Friendship came though with an HOH win and did Maggie's bidding. For example, JBlow was low on the Sovs radar, but Maggie got her to go back on her word and backdoor Kaysar, which weakened the Sovs and made JBlow the next target.

The rivalry peaked when Janelle won her first HOH and did her famous Bye Bye Bitches nomination speech. Another great moment was when Janelle won the America's Choice phone call, and a tearful Ivette cursed out viewers. The Friendship consisted of 4 chicks and a gay dude, and the glamorous Buxom Blonde Janelle drove them crazy with "Janellousy." Yet there always was another Sov who was a higher priority to evict, and then Janie saved herslf with comp wins at F5 and F4.

Outcome: In the most dramatic Final HOH comp in BB hsitory, Ivette beat Janie in endurance and then in the third part which went to a double-tiebreaker. Ivette could easily have thrown it and let Maggie be evicted, but she stayed loyal to her cult leader. Janie ended up voting for Ivette, the person who always wanted her out the most, but Maggie pulled out the win as masterminds usually do.

Looking Back: Like almost everyone I was a Janelle fan and hated the outcome. But Maggie deserves props as the greatest BB winner who is not a member of Chilltown. If Janie couldn't win, I'm glad it was her. However after BB8, Howie "goiing Busto" doesn't seem so funny anymore, and I can sympathize with the Friendship using any means necessary to get Kaysar out after he returned in an unfair twist. Janie even lost her spot as my fave BB player when she shamelessly flirted with the "vile abusive misogynistic bully" during her house visit in BB8.
