I think they just hung out together because they were all very close in age whereas Charlie and Kate were much older. Plus, everyone knew Kathryn was the mole before the Unholy Trinity became a factor, Stephen and Jim were just her friends. Bill was in a coalition with Darwin, but Darwin clearly initiated it. The mole has to be able to accept a coalition, otherwise he/she would be too suspicious. Whoever is fortunate/unfortunate enough to establish a coalition with the mole does that of his or her own volition.

I'm a Paul-is-the-Mole supporter, but how can you say that and not rule out Paul? Don't you remember he made a coalition with both Marcie and Alex in the first episode?

I suspect them all but can't really pinpoint one. And as for the coalition stuff, the mole is paid to DECEIVE the others, so lying to others in a coalition is perfectly acceptable. The goal of the mole is to deceive the others and make them all think someone other than the mole, is the mole. So is the mole creates a coalition with someone else, they can easily get rid of that partner by lying to them and if they are smart about it, the coalition is kept secret and no one knows the mole got rid of that player by deceiving them.
