Hey, OT geeks |

How do I allow TCP Ports so I can play stupid internet games? I'm on Mozilla Firefox, if that helps.

If that is merely a clever ruse to get sympathy boob pics from merkyl's mom...
ok, who am I kidding? It'll probably work. (Seriously, c'mon OT. I KNOW that there are at least 20 humongous dorks on right now that could answer in great depth as to what TCP ports are, rather than quote Office Space which is what I've been doing in my head these past couple minutes). |

Any Port in a Datastorm It seems like every day there is a new Internet service that uses some new set of poorly-documented, unregistered ports. I created this page to gather together all the information I could find about the ports used by these new services, for use by firewall administrators and other network monitors.
When a specific port is registered it is usually assigned for both TCP and UDP even though only one or the other may be required. Where possible I have only shown the required ones. I totally just made all that up ^ |

MY PM'S ACTUALLY WORK NOW THANK YOU.
I'd rather play with the freaking cheating-assed robots than post with you jerks. Seriously, all I want is to feed my newfound addiction and play Scrabulous. Is that SO much to ask? Great, now I'm all huffy. |

Just join Facebook already, and don't fill in any of the profile details with real info. You could be Cau Lieve of Lower Bottompoke, Kansas: breeder of
Romanian beavers, fan of Adam Sandler's early work, and graduate of Miss Demeanor's School of Irish Dance.

It's the principle of the thing! I can't join facebook, I'll lost my elitist street cred.
Plus, I'm a bit stubborn. :scottish |

Ports are allowed (or not) on your firewall. If you're at home, you should be able to pass any traffic on any port that you initiate. Do you use a
router, or are you directly connected to your internet source (modem, cable modem, dsl router, etc.)? Unless, of course, you're using a software-based
firewall like Windows Firewall, or Zone Alarm or summat. If that's the case, disable it, and see if you can now pass the traffic. If you can, you know
the culprit. If you still have issues, see the first part.
If you're at work, you better let your IT staff know you need ports open for your gaming. They love that stuff. Odds are though, if you are at work, the ports themselves are not being blocked..it is more likely that the traffic is being shaped. In other words, wait til you get home to play. |
