after 95 games
were 5 back of the Cubs and a game out of the WC behind the Cards 67 games left and we have to be at least 6 games better to win the div. Seems tougher putting it that way. head-to head games could make or break us. it mainly comes down to the bullpen and clutch hitting.

Seeing how they've been pounded on the field and on this board for a season and half now, who can blame them. This is a high water mark in Metville. A
grand criac! I hope they soak it all in because they'll look back on this time as the highlight of the season when they were good for a couple of weeks.

The Philadelphia Phillies moved Adam Eaton to the bullpen Friday to open a spot in the rotation for newly acquired Joe Blanton, who is expected to start for the team Tuesday against the New York Mets. omg yay i get to see joe blantons first start in philly red!!! hey twisty which games are u going to? i got tickets for the first two and will try to go to thursdays also. |

So I went to another meaningless Mariners game last night, but at least Raul Ibanez hit a grand slam and we won. But most exciting, I received the 4th in the
series of Mariner's bobbleheads (they gave out Felix last night AND he pitched):
So they've added a Dave Neihaus (our broadcaster who is getting inducted into the Hall of Fame...he's really wonderful) bobblehead day on Sunday Aug. 3. I can't decide if I should go...it's the same time as the Blue Angels air show over Lake Washington that we usually go to, but I think the Blue Angels also do some fly overs the Mariner's stadium, so I would at least get a glimpse if I went to the game. Decisions, decisions. |

So I'm on my way into work this morning, on special assignment at our corporate office, and I'm listening to The Score, one of the sports radio
stations here in Chicago. Between 8:10 and 8:30, the host spent 20 minutes washing the Twins' jocks and talking about what a great team Minnesota has. Gee,
way to make the listeners happy on the White Sox' flagship station. The fact that I agree with what he was saying isn't the point. 5-10 minutes tops
would have been fine. But 20 minutes?
While we're on the subject of the Twins...Anti can you shed any light on what the hell they are doing to Liriano? That's a fucked up situation his agent is creating. |

Time for the Cubs to pull their bats out of their asses. Granted, Soriano will be back Thursday, which as they say is as good or better than any trade, but
until hes ready to hit at the heart of the order, and be productive, he can only do so much.
We have hit a rough patch, which is frusterating, but while the Cards and Brewers are both proving to be worthy competition, neither of them are exactly the '98 Yankees, and will hit rough patches of their own. If, however, the Rays end up winning the World Series before the Cubs, I officially give up. |
