It really is the riskiest superhero movie ever. It's not a series, it's a novel about characters that NO ONE is familiar with. The Watchmen has a
terrific cult following and is an absolute masterpiece as far as Alan Moore's epic storytelling goes...but that's it. No one knows these characters.
I just hope the movie changes that and tells the story so that those unfamiliar with The Watchmen will never ever forget it.

I love "Dr. Manhattan". He is so perfect.
Who is playing "Comedian"? He was such a great, tragic character. I hope they have a short part for "Minutemen" |

Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays the Comedian. He was Denny on Grey's Anaomy and the father on Supernatural & the dead husband on Weeds

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is the Comedian. Jackie Earle Haley is Rorschach.
I had an orgasm over this trailer. I got to meet Zack Snyder shortly after it was announced that he was doing this movie, and i asked him about the Black Freighter. He was still trying to convince WB to let him put it in, so I decided I had faith in him at that moment. That was also the night I bummed a smoke off Frank Miller. |

Good. It looks so promising. So promising.
The cover remind me too much of "Heroes", which is not a bad thing. |

It's too bad they replaced Silk Spectre's flimsy gossamar outfit with a more practical latex thing. (Of course that probably for the best considering
where they go to at the climax.) I love the period costumes.
There's just so much in the book to put on the screen. All the tiny side stories and the black freighter. Carla Gugino plays the original Silk Spectre and Stephen McHattie is the original Nite Owl. Interesting choices. I love the choice of Matt Frewer for Moloch, the poor guy. |

The guy of the far right is the one I was talking about. He looks like a fucking dork. Second from the left is a total Batman rip off. The guy on the far left looks like he wants to anal rape me, and pending on his size, I think you would be able to :askeerd |

Watchmen overall were based on DC's recently bought (back then) Charlton heroes. . . Rorshach based on the Question/Batman, Owlman based on Blue Beetle (the Owl plane = the beetle plane) Veidt (the dork) does look like a dork in his earliest incarnation and is based on the Judo Master. Actually Peter Cannon:Thunderbolt. Silk Spectre based on Nightshade/Phantom Lady etc. The Comedian I'm not sure of but is a twisted version of Captain America.Actually Peacemaker. Dr Manhattan is based on Captain Atom. Oh yeah and here's some hot water to scald you with sj. Thanks Maxx it was the two you mention later.

I seriously screamed when I saw this trailer before the Dark Knight tonight. My friend was like WTF???
Dr. Manhattan looks frakking awesome. And David Hayter did the original script and the new guy adapted a lot from his. David Hayter did Solid Snake's voice... Can't wait for this! |

Watchmen is a Heroes finale ripoff!!!11!!1!
At least that's what everyone will say when they see it, not knowing its an '80s graphic novel. NO ONE has read this story in the mainstream, even though it is considered one of the best literary pieces in the 20th century (according to TIME). I haven't read it, but I know of the story. I have the feeling that this will inevitably get the same reception that Sin City and 300 got, in that they only appealed to a small, devoted fan audience. Its stay in the top 10 will largely be based on word-of-mouth from critics to people who haven't read it and fans' repeat viewings. |

I just saw it.
Wow. That Dr Manhattan sequence at the start was worth it just for that alone. It was strange to see all these familiar scenes in a different medium. Incredible. I hope it doesn't disappoint. |

Actually Veidt is based on Peter Canon: Thunder Bolt and The Comedian is based on Peacemaker. Alan Moore was originally going to do the story with those
specific DC characters but DC wouldn't allow it.
