1 SHOW THAT DIDN'T MAKE THE LIST(AN ONGOING SERIES) 
Survivor:Marquesas Survivor is such a great concept and is so well produced,and the castways,no matter how boring or obnoxious,usually have some admirable qualities. There's no real season that I actively dislike,but some I like more then others,which everybody has. The difference with me is, I don't try and use pseudo academic reasons or some stupid rubric to describe my distaste. I simply didn't like Marquesas as much as I was "supposed" to. Survivor seems to have a broad appeal, but its "core" audience among Americans anyway are in areas removed from major metropolises. Whether this mean the audience is more "conservative" is up to speculation, but it seems that way to me. Thats why we sucksters seem so far removed from the "casual" audience. Marquesas might be a popular season because it appeals to this base, and if thats the reason, it would explain why I'm not that fond of it. I thought the New Maraamu tribe for example, after Sarah left, was one of the most boring and unappealing tribes ever to me. The final 4 was awful. Kathy might have been a good player, but I couldn't stand her condescending attitude. Neleh comes off just as fake as she was proscribed, and I'm not too fond of Paschal or Vecepia either. They might be perfectly fine people in real life, but I found them unappealing. I understand why Marquesas is important to keep peoples interest in the show by keeping the game competitive, but I just didn't really care for the people who tok control( even Sean, though I like him now), and neither can I saw that about most of the cast either |

I'm a little puzzled and envious at The Amazing Races huge amount of acclaim. Sure,its a great show, but is it really that much better then Survivor? In general, I probably like Survivor a little bit more, but TAR2 >>>>>>>>>>>>> any season of Survivor besides Borneo. Shouldn't you save the runner-ups for after the full list? I figured you wouldn't include Marquesas on your list based on your comments about it in the past and you argue your case well, but man, even though it isn't my favorite season (it's #3), I think pound for pound it might actually be the strongest. Lame finish for sure, but otherwise it was pretty incredible. I don't know if it's really popular outside of Sucks though--it absolutely was at the time, but I think Kathy losing combined with the intensity of the penultimate episode rubbed a lot of viewers the wrong way. |

Really? People didn't like the heated f5 TC? Geez,what the hell do casual fans want?
I think a "Marquesas" season was bound to happen no matter what, so giving credit to the Outcasts is a little OTT.Kelly Goldsmith and Brandon swapped alligences in Africa, but that didn't have any net impact on the tribal structure. I'll add two more also rans then save the rest until after the list is over

The casuals liked Marquesas better than Africa or Thailand. I'm certain of that much. In fact, I'm pretty certain of the following:
1/2. Borneo/Australian Outback 3. Amazon 4. Marquesas 5. Africa 6. Thailand That sentiment was held by practically everyone I knew who watched the show up through that point. I'd agree with it myself except flipping the bottom two. Pearl Islands was also universally hailed as the best since the first two when it first came to be. So really, the casuals and diehards were on the same page in terms of seasons until All Stars which we all loathed and they lapped up. |

Panama - Exile Island was the first season when I started to get bored with Survivor. Different people watch for different aspects but for me the novelty of
the location is an important factor (which is one of the reasons why China is my favorite post ASS season). So instead the theme of this season was based on
twists which bombed because Terry refused to play the Hidden Immunity Idol as well as won nearly all the Individual Immunity Challenges. The first episode was
good and the second episode was OK but then the next 4 episodes had a lot of the boring La Mina tribe because they went to Tribal Council 3 out of 4 times.
Each time La Mina went to Tribal, I had a hard time staying awake. Conflict free tribes make for bad TV and Astronaut Dan resolving himself to being voted out
without putting up a fight at TC is about as boring as it gets. We saw a little of the dysfunction at Casaya at episode 4 and I started getting entertained by
it in episodes 5 and 6. Just when I was starting to get into the season, CBS schedules a recap and a 2 week hiatus because of March Madness. Way to go, CBS!
I had a tough time rekindling my interest in that season after that. This season started a decline in my liking of Survivor that continued with Cook Islands
and Fiji.

Yup,I agree.Going back to Panama is one of the reasons people stopped wathing Survivor.That,and not waiting until the Olympics were over to air it, sweeps be
damned. Also,I pointed out how bad the editing was. However,the strength of the casr makes it a great season for me.MUCH,MUCH better then China or Micronesia
in my humble opinion.The shows that get on this list I have an elevated opinion about,no matter how much I criticize them.
Aras would of beat Cirie in a faceoff.Whether or not he planned for it is null and void, as well as his statement that he thought he would lose. He said he was there to win,and had a plan. |

the first half of Exile Island was utter shit. the second half was great, but guatemala, china, and micronesia are all better post-ass seasons

Yeah, I liked him even before he started posting on here, but that thread made me realize just how awesome he is,and how awesome that season COULD of been had

I watch a lot of movies, probably not as much as Growsie or enough to be considered a cinephile, but more then the average person and probably the average suckster. Everything from Kryzysztof Kieslowski to Hal Warren. There are lots of films about the process of making a movie, and I can't think of any outstanding ones at the moment(maybe "Man bites dog" from the early '90s?).However, I really like the concept. Kill Reality has this same concept, its about a bunch of people making a b grade horror movie. The twist is,these people all happen to be reality stars. Great concept for the Sucks crowd,right? It is actually very trashy, but very, very fun to watch. I can't find it on Youtube, but there is an absolutely hysterical scene with the director getting off to Jonny Fairplay and Jenna M having pretend sex. The show is pretty much everything people say is bad about reality tv, but I like it because I actually enjoy wathing these people. Ethan comes off as a genuinly nice guy, and the most normal in the group, Fairplay makes an ass of himself, but who am I to judge? Jonathan Baker provides funny moments for us to laugh at him, and Rob Cesternino is exposed as a hack writer(which further demonstrates that all his "witticisms" on Survivor:Amazon were preplanned. The film itself, "The Scorned",is awful, there aren't even camp moments to make it fun(compare it to "Mano" and you'll see what I mean). This show, however,is very fun. I suggest you watch it if you can find it.
