Gregoire's absolutely right about the writing categories, they always have the highest concentration of television's best shows.
I'm glad for Creature Comforts. A very original series concept and often very humorous. Last year's most unappreciated & overlooked gem. Dramas isn't a bad crop. Boston Legal is obviously the old people contingent having their say while House is a shitty procedural with a great lead actor. I could be happy with the other four winning, even the mediocre LOST because at least it improved this past season and had a few great episodes. 1. Mad Men or Dexter or Mad Men or Dexter or... 3. Damages 4. LOST 5. Boston Legal 6. House Comedies was exactly as I expected. Well, except for Pushing Daisies being snubbed for the oh-so-over-the-hill Curb Your Enthusiasm. The one really unfortunate bit of business is the nomination of Two & A Half Men which was inevitable given the format. When you have ten shows on the short list and you aren't ranking them for the next round but instead voting for your favorites, the laugh-track guild could throw all of their weight behind Sheen's series. Obviously, the majority was nominating, say, 30 Rock and would surely rank 2 1/2 as one of the worst of the bunch but it's able to skate into the nominations round with slightly more support than the five that missed the cut. 1. 30 Rock 2. The Office - slight decline 3. Entourage - major decline 4. Curb Your Enthusiasm - lost the funny in Season 5, hasn't fully recovered 5. Two and a Half Men The reality category snubbed Survivor but at least Probst has a strong shot at the statue. TAR will surely repeat given the amount of nominations and the other shows having a weaker season than normal and plenty of haters (Idol/Stars) or are cable series that far less see (Chef/Runway). 1. The Amazing Race 2. Top Chef 3. Project Runway 4. American Idol 5. Dancing With The Stars Animated Series: 1. King of the Hill (One of their best episodes in ages and it mined death for comedy in a way I had never seen before. Brilliant!) 2. The Simpsons 3. Creature Comforts 4. Robot Chicken: Star Wars 5. Spongebob Squarepants Animated Special: 1. South Park: Imaginationland - alright 2. Justice League: The New Frontier - great from a technical standpoint 3. Family Guy: Blue Harvest - I would never watch this Reality Non-Competition 1. Antiques Roadshow - still inherently fascinating 2. Dirty Jobs - mildly annoying 3. Intervention - pretty annoying 4. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition - emotionally manipulative trash in giftwrap for Midwesterners 5. Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List - a glorified VH1 celebreality show (or E! or Bravo or...), yet duller and a star more aurally irritating than most of the others Variety Series: 1. Letterman - still the best 2. Colbert Report - overrated 3. Daily Show - extremely overrated 4. Bill Maher - annoying political rants with no substance 5. SNL - WHAT THE FUCK???????!!!!!!! Edit: UGH! Did not initially notice that Daisies was snubbed and Curb was the fifth nominee.

Oh no you didn't. Them's fighting words. Kathy Griffin is freaking hilarious. To compare her show to a shitty VH1 show is sacrilege. Her show is brillant and one of the funniest shows on TV. But in all honesty, I do know that she's one of those people that you either love her (which I do) or hate her (which, I'm just guessing here, you do). |

The Constant wasn't that good, but Lost ftw! And Housewives was totally snubbed this year.

Yeah, Phil got hosed too. And while I have never ever watched an episode of BSG, I can tell you right now why it got no noms, and probably won't: It's on SciFi. |

So Tina Fey got a nomination in the performance in a variety show category? For hosting SNL just ONCE? While Kristin Wiig gets nothing for a whole season of brilliance? I don't get that... |

Fo sho! It's a very funny show. Even the scripted parts.I've started to appreciate her stand-up, but D-list is simply unwatchable for me, and I'm probably as bad a bitch as Kathy is. |

I am stunned Phil wasn't nominated. Seacrest will probably take it out unfortunetly.

I don't want to play the race card, but it's hard not to when The Wire is snubbed yet again, but Mad Men gets slurped like there's no tomorrow.

Mad Men is a good show. Boston Legal...not so much. And if you didn't want to play the race card, you wouldn't have.

White NYC ad execs vs black drug dealers.
Just sayin'...which one do you think is more comfortable viewing for Middle America? Mad Men is good, but it's not even in the same league as The Wire. |

I have a good friend who is in her 70's and votes on the Emmy nominations. I am pretty sure she doesn't vote for Boston Legal !

Yes, there's examples to the contrary everywhere. But Boston Legal is obviously the "safe" network drama choice and Two and a Half Men likewise.
Anybody who voted for those probably didn't check the box next to Mad Men, The Wire, Flight of the Conchords or 30 Rock.
