PACKERS THINK THEY HAVE THE GOODS ON THE VIKES
Posted by Mike Florio on July 17, 2008, 5:32 p.m.
A league source tells us that the Green Bay Packers are confident that they have sufficient proof to show that the "Minneapolis" Vikings (thanks, Greta) tampered with quarterback Brett Favre. Another source has laid out for us some of the facts that the investigation could (emphasis: could) reveal. For starters, it has been reported that the Packers believe that phone records will reveal that Favre has had multiple conversations with Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. But we're hearing that the Packers might already have the phone records. Since the Packers wouldn't have had access to the phone records of Bevell or any other Vikings employee, the logical conclusion is that Favre was using a cell phone that has been bought and paid for by the Packers - and that the Packers have full access to the documents reflecting all calls made and received. And we're hearing unconfirmed rumors that the list of calls made and received by Favre on his Packer-provided cell phone contained other numbers. And that one of the numbers (again, unconfirmed) could belong to phone belonging to Brad Childress, head coach of the Vikings. Because Childress and Favre have no prior relationship, any discussions between the two of them would be suspicious, to say the least. Especially if the communications occurred after a multiple days of multiple discussions between Favre and Bevell. Meanwhile, the Vikings have been eerily silent regarding the situation. And that could be because they fear that their nuts are in a vise on this one. |

Florio is a hack. Who cares what he thinks?
Vikings being 'eerily silent"? So they are letting their lawyers handle it, instead of blabbing to the media? Isn't that what everyone is ripping Favre about? Fuck the Packers. After this, I say the Vikes do everything they can to sign Favre and fuck the Packers. Ooooooo, we have to trade 3rd round draft picks with the Packers for 'tampering'? Fine. I'll take a trip to the Superbowl in exchange for that. |

Most of Florio's stuff turns out to be pretty accurate. I don't know who his sources are, but he definitely has some good ones.

Well San Francisco lost some draft picks for flirting with Lance Briggs so it'll be interesting to see what the NFL does to the Vikings.

san fran had to forfeit their 5th round pick and just had to swap 3rd rounders with chicago which was 5 slots of a difference
yw edit: geneokerlund27 actually looked it up to get it right, yw!

My recollection is that SF had to trade 3rd round draft pick with Chicago, which isn't that big a deal. And that won't happen to the Vikes, because
they are innocent as the pure driven snow that covers up for half the year.
It's not like they got fined half a million and lost a first round draft pick, like some cheaters. |

I bet Favre is just sitting at home laughing at all the controversy he's stirred up and the press he's getting.

This week guys!!!!! Training camp opens THIS WEEK!!!!! The long drought of football less days is almost over.
Can I just say it is really making me mad to see the preseason QB rankings and to see QB's like Donovan McNabb, Tony Romo, David Gerrard and Dumb Ben ranked higher than Matt Hasselbeck, who basically carried our team last year and is far superior to those guys? I can understand Tom Brady, and even though I despise him, Peyton "I've never met a commercial I didn't do" Manning, but the others are no way, no how, better than Matt. Let's hope all the bad karma Seattle has received from the Mariners this year gets erased by good karma for the Seahawks. At any rate, at least there will still be football to watch. I am listening to John Clayton on the radio right now.

Salchicho...I don't remember seeing you in this thread before. Are you someone's ghost? If not, be sure to join our NFL Suicide game when it starts
up with the regular season.

My dad got 4 tickets to see the then LA Rams, and was talking with some family friends who had two sons and asking them if the kids would want to go to the game with him. My mom chimed in with "How about your daughters?" My dad couldn't believe a couple of girls would want to go to a football game, but we went, and that was the beginning of my love of football. |
