Is he still in the house? Where was he? Was he avoiding the coloreds and the Orientals and that's why we didn't see him?

I'm annoyed that I can't find an "Ollie is anti-gay" hate thread.Because that's not the "in minority." But again, despite the fact that Steven was completely wrong in what he said, and very few people are actually defending his words...there is more racism coming from the people in this thread that he ever invoked. Lest we forget GernadeJumper's completely bigot statement about "any white men" having issues with black women of power. I find it a joke that people can say, with a straight face, that racism is wrong and then make a derogatory comment about any group, even if that group is in the majority. What, being in the majority protects you from racism? Bull shite. What annoys me most about people as a rule is hypocrisy. If you feel Steven was out of line in what he said, like I do, fine. This is the thread to invoke that. But then to turn around and make an even more racist statement in response? HYPOCRITE. Go fuck a 2x4 you hypocrite bitches. |

Not a hypocrite, I'm just stating a very prevalent fact that still plagues this society. People still have issues with an assertive, Af-Am female that just
completely swoops in and takes charge of a situation.
Believe what you want to believe, I don't give a fuck. |

Um, last time I checked, that's racism. And, I totally understand your point. When Cirie was on survivor being strategically sound, she had massive amounts of people hating her for it. Didn't you see the polls? constantly at the bottom. Seriously, you may have a point from RACIST white men? But put the qualifier in there if you don't want to be as bad, if not worse, than what you apparently hate in Steven. |

Most generalizations/streotypes are erroneous, but how is GJ's comment more racist that Steve's comments? Who are the other people you're
referring to that have more racism coming from them than Steve?

Most generalizations/streotypes are erroneous, but how is GJ's comment more racist that Steve's comments?I see a difference in a word, which shouldn't be used, carries a painful and negative connotation, and has the ability to hurt as profound. But not as bad as a generalization about a group of people. One is a label. What GJ did made an assumption about the BEHAVIOR and ACTIONS of an entire race/gender. A word doesn't carry that clout unless people give it power to. So, as far as I'm concerned, that's far more racist than anything Steven did. When Steven starts making connections between LIBRA'S behavior and ALL BLACK PEOPLE, then he will have gone as far as GJ did. But I'm guessing that he knows better. |

true. Also, I seriously think you are splitting hairs and your statement indicates a difference without a distinction. Racism is the intolerance of one group
based on the stereotypes assigned to the group and/or the idea that other groups are inferior. It manifests itself in several ways - words, insults,
generalization, discrimination, etc. Anyone saying that Steven is racist is saying that based on his use of derogatory words (colored girl) and the
stereotypical statements he has made (Asians do nails, Mexicans and Blacks get arrested). We don't really know if he's racist, ignorant, or
just starting shit, but I certainly can't see how you're saying GJ's one statement is more racist than all of the bullshit that Steven has said.

Anyone saying that Steven is racist is saying that based on his use of derogatory words (colored girl) and the stereotypical statements he has made (Asians do nails, Mexicans and Blacks get arrested).] Even calling that word "derogatory" is assuming facts not in evidence. Politically incorrect? Fine. Insensitive? Fine. Ignorant? Fine. However, for a word to be "derogatory", there needs to be negative intent from the speaker. The simple fact that the recipient has decided that the name is no longer desirable is not enough to make its usage derogatory...

I agree with Vmeyers. You don't need intent for a word to be derogatory. It really goes to the effect on the recipient. When kids say "that's
so gay" to something they perceive as stupid or dumb, that's derogatory. But they most likely didn't intend for it to be mean and bigoted.
It's just part of their vernacular. It's still derogatory, though.
