This here thread, guys and gals, is for those of us who play golf on a (semi)regular basis to talk about our rounds and bitch about courses. It is NOT a
PGA Tour discussion thread.
So I got out this afternoon for a quick 9 with one of my buddies. We played a short 9 hole course near my house, par 30. Mostly straight, not really very
challenging. No permanent water hazards, although recent rains had left a huge pond on the 4th hole (that I managed to find with my tee shot, of course). The
longest hole is a 285 yard par 4 that goes uphill and to the left. I managed a 7 on that one. Jeezus my short game needs a LOT of work.
I shot a 62. I putted fine, in fact I sank a couple of 8 footers and only 3-putted once, but my iron game sucks. I either hit the damn ball too hard or too
soft. My tee shots were adequate for the course although I do have a nasty habit of topping the ball when I hit it. If I could get under the ball
consistently I'm sure I could shave 10 strokes off my average. All in all, it was about what I expected for not having been to a driving range or played a
round in the last year and a half. Now that I have my own set of clubs, I plan to get out on a consistent basis so I'm sure I'll improve a bit.
Your turn.
