I decided to present at countdown list and wanted to do something fresh. So may I present the 20 greatest, bitterest, and most controversial rivalries between players on Survivor and Big Brother.

The list will include 14 from Survivor and 6 from BB. I will count them down in pairs. I tend to pick rivalries that run through a season and generate debate on the boards. Most of my top faves were involved in such rivalries, and that's a big part of why I love them more intensely than players who were shoved down our throats as heroes or were universallty liked.

#20 Erika vs Robert & Jee (Big Brother 4)



This is the onlty great rivalry directly resulting from a casting twist. The X Factor made for a nasty season of BB, and no couple had a longer previous relationship or bitterer split than Erika and Robert (aka Ratbert). Erika twice survived being targted for eviction by Robert's ally Jee, largely because Jee made dumbass nominations (She called him a "just off the boat Korean" after the first nom and got slammed by viewers as a racist, though Jee's fellow-Korean Jun spoke contempuously of him along the same lines).

Outcome: After weeks of Erika crying, wanting Robert out, and going over lowlights of their relationships (shared cocaine use, etc), they finally allied when Robert won F4 HOH. But ironically he was as ineffectual at protecting her as he was at evictingf her. Alison won the veto and booted Erika, then won HOH and booted Robert.

# 19 Brandon vs Frank (S3)



The first of many bitter generational splits on Survivor tribes - the Mall Rats the Samburu Elders - culminated in a hilarious reward, where flaming gay stereotype Brandon went on a movie date with gun-loviing, homophobic right-wing nutjob Frank. Both were equally uncomfortable.

Outcome: The spiteful Samburu were more intent on beating one another than at averting a pagoning, and both Brandon and Frank were booted at successive TCs. Editing suggested that Brandon's refusal to work with Frank was primarily to blame, though Kim P's distrust of Brandon after he went against the tribe to boot Kelly G.
