Wow. What a bad night. There was only one performance I truly liked (Theo's). Yikes. The others, if I had to classify tonight's songs as "good" or "bad," would all fall in the latter category. Mookie's was borderline and I thought that Amberly's and Omar's might have been better on a different night, but they failed tonight. My thoughts on the performances:

Martin- Kudos for picking a gutsy song. Unfortunately, it didn't work. "Yellow" was great a few weeks ago, but you can't sing Coldplay alone, especially a song as high and shrill as "Fix You."

Theo- The kid brings it every week. He also stepped out of his box a bit this week. I was a big fan of that performance (though I did note that he stole Mitch's setup from last week).

Amberly- Like others, I thought it was a clunker. At the same time, you could see she was trying some cool things to change up the song. It didn't work. I'll give her an B+ for the effort. She looks beautiful had has two of the top 5-10 performances of the season. If she's not here next week, I'll be pissed.

Adam- Boring and lackluster. Like always. Like Adam himself. Agree 100% with Zack's comment, especially comparing it to Adam's own hype about "Umbrella."

Marie-Pierre- I actually enjoyed that at first. It was full of yelling, of course, but I thought she showed a new side of her voice and I really liked the chorus. Then she started squeaking. Ugh. Very ugly near the end. If she, Katelyn, and Amberly were in the top 10, I'd be okay with it, but she has to start improving.

Omar- The low notes were terrible. HOR.I.BLE. I thought it was going to pick up as he approached the chorus, but then he went back to the low notes when he could have gone high. TPTB want him around next week, but I sure don't. Boring, thin, cocky, not genuine, please go.

Mark- I thought he chose a song that showcased his voice at its best. Still, not good enough on the vocals. He isn't a great singer, I hate his personality, and he needs to go. I'm hoping that Newfoundland thinks that he's a lock because of their voting power and in a shocking results show, he doesn't receive enough votes to advance.

Mookie- Interesting song. I thought his voice growled. Without his guitar, his usual moves drove me crazy. I just want him to sit on the stage and sing a song sometime. I like him, but I didn't like the performance.

Overall:

Theo, Amberly, and Mark are certain to advance. Mookie is a maybe. Omar, Adam, Marie-Pierre, and Martin are fighting to become the worst singer in the top 10 (not counting Mark, of course).

All in all, This was a horrible breakdown of the Top 24 into two nights. It seems to me like they were trying to make sure that Mookie and Omar could make it into the top 10. On the bright side, we are assured that Katherine St-Laurent won't be in the top 10 (no way she's beating three of the following: the Pigotts, Mitch, Drew, Gary, Earl, Katelyn).
