So, what the fuck was wrong with Ferarri at Silverstone? Poor preparation apparently and sending the cars out with used tires? Give Hamilton credit - Hell of a
start and to win by over a minute?
3-way tie at the halfway point. |

Almost a 4-way tie. Very good season.
Didn't see the whole race, but it looked like Ferrari setup for a dry race, and McLaren got it right. Softer suspension, more mechanical grip. Plus the Brit teams test at Silverstone more because its their home track. Ferrari has never done well historically at Silverstone. |

This is turning out to be a great season. And I have to admit Hamilton was great today. He had a great start and was clearly fastest on the inters. Kimi was
holding onto Hamilton until the no tire change fiasco. I find it interesting that Ferrari had bad tire startegy and Ross Brawn goes with the full wets and
Reubens finishes 3rd. I bet that put a smile on his face today.
I think Massa needs traction control. I don't think the car was that bad because Kimi was holding his own for the most part. Some drivers can't adapt as well. |

I am now convinced that Ferrari have a blind monkey deciding on their strategy during the wet races. WTF are they thinking???
Kimi had a great shot at actually winning if it wasn't for that tire blunder. And Massa...wow... they should have put him on full wets after the 4th time he spun. Fabulous result for Honda though. It's great to see the old guys getting one last chance on the podium again. |

The BMWs sure seemed to know how to drop a gear and pass in the wet. Heidfeld really shot past some guys as if they were standing still. I felt bad for Webber
- Making it to the pole and finishing out of the points.
and no, Kimi had a great chance at second place. Even a Hamilton basher should concur that there was no way he was losing this race no matter what tires he had on. He didn't come close to spinning, set fastest laps when he needed some distance and won by over a minute. Even if Ferrari didn't test or set up their cars for the circuit, Massa was a total mess out there. The announcers were even speculating he would just pull out when he went in for the final pit stop. |

One thing I'm noticing is that Ferrari suck in the rain lately. They used to dominate in the rain, which probably means their traction control was great.
With no more traction control, and a freeze in engine development, I'm betting that their engine powerband is very narrow and harder to feather/control
than the Mercedes.

That was my point about the BMW also - They seemed to have a reservoir of torque that most other engines were lacking. Perhaps they just had the right gearbox
for the corners, but they were impressive.
CN - What's your take on the A1 GP series? I have the promo DVD when they were launching it and understand that Ferrari will supply the hardware to the international teams, but I have read and heard nothing about it. |

Never really followed it. A world cup of racing, each country has one or two cars. Only problem is that it's not really the best from each country. They
will all be racing basically a detuned 2004 Ferrari F1.

I missed the race, having had to spend Sunday on a pair of July 4th weekend choked interstates, constantly thinking "what would Schumi do?"
I did see the highlights on Speed though. How Ferrari blew the tire decision that badly eludes me. Nuts. That's the exact shot of confidence to Hamilton that could get him back into last season's form. What was the animal that Massa almost ran over? It looked like a piglet. Yikes, effectively this is a four-way tie. I can't wait to see the replay on Wednesday night. |

It was a rabbit I think and he was on track at least twice!

Anybody watch Hockenheim today?
Is that some sort of world record for number of passes? Is Hockenheim always like this? I don't recall being enthused about that race, yet today was the most entertaining race in a long time. Fucking Hamilton, though. Still, it would've been unfair had Picquet won out of dumb luck. But Massa had him on the ropes twice and the bastard still wins. Unbelievable. |

Missed it. I've been lacking in my F1 viewing.

I don't know why Hamilton didn't pit under the safety car, but the guy was still a second a lap faster than anyone out there.
It did appear that Heikki let Lewis through however... Hamilton almost said as much in post-race. Did you see Nelson on the podium? Guy looked like he would pass out from happiness |

I accidently saw these sweethearts yesterday. Somebody was off the track & they were using a highlift to bring him back home. The only reason I bring it up
is I heard the name Justin Wilson & hoped some 80 year old dead cajun cook isn't a driver.
I actually went over to efferstientopialand to look for a thread but gave up after the first page. |

It's the 'non-downy' thread there Nedster. That's where I keep the important race gallery...

I rarely yell at the TV, at least not when it's the NFL offseason, but did so twice this morning.
Once when Massa snaked Hamilton at the start. Twice when Massa grenaded his engine. Oh too bad! And there I was thinking midrace that it was too bad Hamilton had the tire puncture (which was prolly his own fault anyhow, driving out of desperation), so that Massa could've schooled him in person on the podium. Where the fuck did Glock come from? Nicely done. Sad to see BMW cratering all of a sudden. |
