Ka-blewie is the past-tense of ka-blowie. Since Independence Day was Friday, these are ka-blewie pics.

I believe you can also spell ka-blewie without the hyphen. I think there's a French-Canadian way to spell it, too, but fuck them, right?

I'm well aware of the drawbridge in the photos. I LIKE the drawbridge. It adds a silhouette of interest. Also, I wanted to find a spot that was not as crowded to take the pictures. Setting up a tripod in the middle of 100,000 drunken assholes might be considered rude. Not to mention the smell. Many others were taking photos where I was camped out and there were still approximately 1,300 drunken assholes, but they argued mostly among themselves. Unfortunately, being in a less-crowded area off the beaten path meant that there were no Porta-Potties available for public use, so many of us just used public places.

I like the blue in here, even though I missed the biggest boom, it's still nice. Do understand: the full size shots are crystal clear -- resizing them for posting makes a little bit of jaggies, but you get the idea.




Are you ready for the finale? It's coming up. I have to say, downtown Jax puts on a really great show from just about any vantage point, but it's damn SHORT. They do set off duplicate sets of fireworks from two locations, so I guess it gets really expensive.

So much white-hot intensity in the center! I bet some moths died, but they died for our FREEDOM, so I honor their sacrifice.




The boats on the river blurred a smidgen since they were bobbing. I could not stop them from moving on the water. I didn't even try because that requires MAGIC (or Jesus). Still, I like the surreal quality of the shadowy boats.




"Whoa!" drunk chick behind me said. Then her boyfriend started a fight with her because she "may be beautiful," but is also "ridiculous and jealous and irritating," according to him. I'm sure he's right, but frankly... he was no fucking prize himself.




Gorgeous colors! And the traffic afterwards wasn't that bad, so it was a nice night.

It's almost like I'm there, Scruffy. Almost.
