Well season 5 will be starting in a couple of weeks (July 11th in the US and July 14th in Canada) so we dont have much longer to wait and see what happens with
Teyla and her baby. Should be good. Will be interesting to see Woollsey in charge of Atlantis. I'm glad its coming back early, I'm growing tired of
reruns and reality shows.

For lack of a non-Atlantis Stargate thread - good news and bad news:
The Good news: Stargate: Continuum goes straight to DVD on July 29, 2008. General Hammond will be making an appearance. The Bad news: Don S. Davis (General Hammond) died of a heart attack last Sunday. http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b145293_appreciation_one_of_stargates_finest.html http://www.gateworld.net/news/2008/06/don_s._davis_1942-2008.shtml |

It is so sad about Don S. Davis. I was shocked when I read about his passing. He will be missed. The season opener has leached online.

My first time seeing Stargate: Atlantis was tonight's season premiere. The Outer Limits themed Doctor Who ep was a nice lead-in.
Since the premiere appears to be a different date north of the border, I'll save comment on the spoilerish stuff right at the end of the episode. Suffice it to say that the premiere satisfyingly brings us to the close of one storyline, and the start of another.

*SPOILERS*
** * * * * * * * * * * * * * So Michael is dead? Just like that? no final words? Epic battle? ugh. Either way, I'm so glad they are done chasing Teyla around the universe. * * * * * * * |

I don't think Michael is dead. I think he comes back later in the season. They would never let a character seemingly die a fiery death with absolutely
no plausible means of escape and then not devise some outlandish way to assure their safe exit and shocking return later on in the season.

Seriously, who is that new girl? I dont follow news or anything, but I could tell she wasn't just some standard extra. She was there in a beginning a lot
and then she just disappeared. Is she going to be a new character?

Pretty, as are her tiny nipples (Google it). |

Total bummer....
The series will air its final regular episode in January, Sci Fi announced Thursday (Aug. 21). At the same time, though, the cable network has ordered a two-hour movie that will premiere on Sci Fi and then be released on DVD soon thereafter. The show's producers are hoping to follow the model of parent series "Stargate SG-1," which has released two successful direct-to-DVD movies since its finale. "We're excited to tell 'Atlantis' stories on a bigger canvas," series co-creators Robert C. Cooper and Brad Wright say in a statement. "The successes of the two original 'Stargate' movies, 'The Ark of Truth' and 'Continuum,' have shown us the opportunities that the movie format offers. We have plans for both 'SG-1' and 'Atlantis' to remain vital as we expand the franchise." Check Your Local TV Listings
"Stargate Atlantis" spun off from "SG-1" in 2004 and has been a steady performer for Sci Fi ever since. Its fifth season debuted last month and will wrap up in January after hitting the 100-episode mark. |

Followed a small bit of hope...
A day after announcing that "Stargate Atlantis" is ending its series run, the cable channel said Friday (Aug. 22) that it's planning to launch the third series in the franchise. "Stargate Universe" will premiere as a two-hour movie next summer and then slide into a regular weekly spot. "Sci Fi has enjoyed tremendous success with 'Stargate SG-1' and 'Stargate Atlantis,' and we're proud to be the home of the new 'Stargate Universe,'" says Mark Stern, head of original programming at the channel. "'Universe' will continue the 'Stargate' legacy of vibrant storylines and compelling adventures, but will re-invent the format in a whole new way." 'Stargate Atlantis' Ending Series Run
The crew also can't control the ship's navigational schedule when it comes within range of Stargate, meaning there's no way to go back if someone gets left behind. "We plan to keep those elements that have made the franchise a success, such as adventure and humor, while breaking new ground in the relationships between mostly young and desperate explorers, thrust together and far from home," Cooper and Wright say. "Above all, we believe the Stargate itself remains an enduring icon with infinite potential as a jumping-off point for telling stories." "Atlantis" will end its five seasons as a weekly series in January. The show's world will remain alive through a two-hour movie that will air on Sci Fi and be released on DVD soon thereafter. |

It sucks to see SGA go. I do think though the last few season they been trying to be like SG1. I knew that the writers didn't want SGA and Universe on at
the same time. I would have thought SciFi would have kept the show cause BSG is ending next year. Universe does sound like a bit like BSG.

Here I am posting about what a bummer it is that Atlantis is being cancelled....
Then I get around to watching last Friday's episode... It really sucked! It had everything going for it - Rodney centric.. WITH his sister... Fell very, very flat. They seem to be running out of their mojo... |

Sue5858 wrote: That episode has actually gotten a lot of praise from fans, saying that David Hewlett's acting was superb and that he should be up for an acting award instead of stupid Jewel Staite. I just thought it was okay I'm tired of the genius losing his intelligence, the oh so sad, type plots that you see a lot of shows and movies do. It's the "Simple Jack" syndrome. And the Keller/McKay relationship thing irks me. But after seeing the last episode "Whispers" with the all girls team and Sheppard not even knowing about them when he is in charge of the military contingent on Atlantis and the fist bump that he and Beckett did like they were going to have a big orgy with the all female team bothered me and made me not so sad that the show has been cancelled. And some are saying that this is a taste of what the new show Stargate Universe is going to be like, pftt, I think i'll skip it. |
