As long as this couple is good to their child and raise it in a loving environment who are we to say it's wrong? I just think it's kinda weird he kept
his female internal parts if he truly felt he was a 'man.' I thought that was the whole point of a sex change. ????

Ok, I thought from reading from the responses from page one that he had the surgery to give him a penis, when in fact the hormones he was taking enlarged his ummm...woman parts. It's all very strange. |

Also men who have had a vasectomy don't have sperm in their semen, I still think their penis is fully functioning though. You think no sperm = not functioning? o and this penis doesn't seem to have the ability to ejaculate which is completely different than producing sperm. Which no penis can do.

Infertile men often still have the ability to ejaculate, children have the potential, and many elderly men still do have the ability (even if not as reliably as they once did) and those that don't may no longer be considered "fully functioning"...?However, this person doesn't have a real penis at all. He/she took hormones to enlarge the clitoris. Hence, it is obviously not a "fully functioning" penis. Even when someone has phalloplasty, the result is not "fully functioning". |

The only problem I have is the picture where he's holding up a little pink baby dress. You'd think somebody who grew up as a man in a woman's body
wouldn't be so quick to impose gender stereotypes on his own daughter.
Maybe I've lived in New York City for too long, but I don't understand everybody's obsession with imposing labels on this guy because of what he chose to do (or not do) with his body. In smaller communities people would naively ask my boyfriend and me, "Which one of you gets to be the woman?" But in NYC, people are familiar enough with gays understand that sometimes guys do things that would typically be called female behavior, and that doesn't make them any less male. While having a baby is the ultimate expression of femininity, if today he calls himself the baby's father, his gender identity is male, and he goes back to living a male life, what gives us the right to question that? Because it's difficult to understand? Because it's uncharted territory? That's OUR problem, not his. He's queer, his baby's here, get used to it. |

Why didn't the wife (who I assume is entirely woman) have the baby? Wouldn't that be the logical thing to do?

she was infertile. so i guess according to some on this thread, didn't fit the definition of a woman.

WTF?? A woman is a fucking woman, with a vagina & boobs! Even the confused ass 'man' knows that. That's why she had her boobs removed.
Nomi, I expected better of you. |

His wife already has two grown children. He wanted to carry his child. I think he also wanted to make headlines. Have the baby pictures been sold yet?

Charming Nemesis wrote: X I have absolutely no problems at all with this couple having a baby and I respect everyone, gay, straight or transgender. However, medically this is NOT a man having a baby. There are some things in life that you can't change, whether you want to or not. Being accepted as a man in society and physically being a
man are two completely different things.

Chromosomes can't be changed; the rest is just cosmetic.

This is not a man, and that bugs the shit outta me that they keep referring to him as such. He is a WOMAN living as man, no miracle here.
But I like it that the wife is breastfeeding using hormones! Both father and daughter came through the birth in perfect health. "I weigh two pounds less than I did before I got pregnant," adds Thomas. "And I don't have a single stretch mark!" |
